Da'Kari snuck downstairs tonight and got an almost whole stick of butter off the counter and ate it, thankfully we found it before she ate the wrapper. When my son showed me the wrapper she started clacking her jaws, I suppose she must have loved it and wanted more. BUT that is a lot of butter, has anyone had this happen? I am concerned that it may make her sick.

LOL
Last week, Mark and I had the biggest fight. I was feeling kind of punk and went upstairs to take a bath before I did the dinner dishes and put the left overs away. I asked him to just make sure Chi didn't get on the counter. It's not as if I asked him to clean the kitchen or anything, just keep the dog off the counter, he could have shut the stupid kitchen door(Yes, I realize as I write this that I could have just shut the stupid kitchen door too). At any rate, I came down from my bath feeling much better. While in the tub, Chi brought me 3 shoes and 1 remote (a dog that can open a door is dangerous!).
I went in to the kitchen to clean up and noticed that a brand new, large tub of butter was all but gone. Who was the culprit? Since I truly doubt that Jordan ate the butter and Petri can't get on the counter and the butter eaten weighed more than the cat (okay, maybe not more than but it was a lot of butter and the tongue prints left were most certainly not left by a cat :) , we can only assume that it was Chi.
I got so mad. Mark's response was typical male in that he said "Tracy, we can go buy more butter!" I still don't think he understands that my anger wasn't about the butter, it was that I asked him to do one small little thing and he didn't. He argued that it couldn't have been Chi, she had been asleep beside him the couch the whole time. Of course, I blew that argument out of the water when I produced the 3 shoes and remote that she had delivered while she was "sound asleep on the sofa".
So, no, you're not the only one with a butter eating dog. But I think I'm the only one with a husband crazy enough to think I'd believe that Chi was asleep on the sofa the whole time and the butter just mysteriously dissappeared :)
On a side note, I was prepared for explosive poo's but she didn't suffer any ill effects.

Every dog I have ever had has loved butter. I learned many years ago not to leave out butter ever. We had company once and they offered to help set the table. I was busy yakking etc. never thought to tell them no butter on the table until we sit down. Well yes it was devoured and lip smacking good apparently as well. I think to dogs butter is like candy to children.

Hero has done that in the middle of the night. I'd be making toast for the kids in the morning and I'd ask everybody where the butter was and no one knew. It must be the Butter Bandit. I thought she would have bad poops and maybe get sick but nothing. Thank Goodness!!! It must be a Dobe thing with butter LOL

Oh I feel much better, I was concerned for her health mostly, if there was running poo's then we can get over that but the timing would suck, we are going camping tomorrow for the weekend, (camera is on the list of what to pack) and I would hate to have to deal with runny poo there!

All your stories are funny, so we have a bunch of Butter Bandits. I guess they all stick together 1000's of miles apart.

Tracy LOL your husband is too funny, I don't know if he is like mine but what he said reminds me of mine in that he won't take the blame for something so if Chi was laying there for at least a whole minute, that transforms into "she was laying here with me the WHOLE time"!!!

LOL @ Tracy's Husband. Sounds SO much like my husband ;)

We never leave butter out. Not much of a butter eater to begin with. So I rarely use it. But I can imagine Bruno would go for it if I did lol. He has a thing for checking the table once everyone is done. He wants to see if he can nab anything. He's been good with the counter, so far. But I noticed he's become a lil scavenger. He's also been getting into the garbage (which I need to find a way to get him to STOP because I HATE picking up garbage haha).

But I was gonna say that she'd probably just get the poops if anything. :)
