So my daughter has a friend in our neighborhood who has another red Dobe male. I was shocked! He's about 1 1/2 years old, he was cropped but they said they posted him for 4 months and his ears just wouldn't stand, they just completely flop as if they were never posted. He is a very impressive looking boy. They said he weighed 100 lbs. I have to admit, Jax looked very close to him in height, and definitely length. (Yes, I realize Jax is built like a train.....:)) :D

Jax got to meet this nice doberdude tonight when they walked to our house to pick their daughter up. He was very nice to Jax when they met on their leashes, and Jax acted like I would expect a 5 month old pup to greet another dog. He did the whole butt in the air. :D

Then a couple of weeks ago I saw that 3 houses up from us there is another red Dobe. Not sure if it is male or female though? I don't really know those neighbors.

I was shocked that not only are there two Dobe's that I know of in my neighborhood, but also by the fact that they are both red. And anywhere me and Jax go people comment on the fact that they didn't realize Dobe's came in red.

So, I'm curious. Do any of you live with other Dobe's in the neighborhood?

My neighbor 3 doors down has a dobe, and rescues/fosters with the center I went through. So I went through her when I was ready. So that's two owners within a 100 yards of each other.

On my block we have another male across the street and 2 houses down he is black & rust younger than Buddy. They never got to play because Buddy was too big fo him. Then on our side of the street in the 2nd house from us another male black & rust older than Buddy they both do not get out much just stay in their yards.

Ours and another female Dobe at the other end of our neighborhood. I used to see an 11 year old female walking with her owner and their spaniel, but now he has 2 spaniels :(

Dobes used to be popular in the UK in the 1970s and 80s, I believe - often with the sort of people (the macho moron types) who wanted "attack dogs". Then they went out of fashion, but they seem to be becoming more popular again recently (with much better owners). Five years ago Charlie was a rarity in my neighbourhood and I only knew of two other Dobes around here. But in the last 2 or 3 years it's become much more common to see Dobes around and now there are about 10 now that we encounter fairly frequently - mostly black-and-tans but a couple of reds, too.

But the most common breeds in my neck of the woods are GSDs, Staffies, Border collies, Labs, Springers, Weimaraners, German Wire-haired Pointers, Border terriers, JRTs, and mutts.

I do my best to "up" the Dobe population round here but there is one other Dobiegirl local to me her name is Zola and she loves me very much (she thinks it's great that I hug and kiss her and give her lots of livercake treats :) )

I know of one other Doberman that lives nearby, she's currently being shown around BC and is also an agility dog. She's a Devonquest girl.

Other than that, none that I'm aware of. There are a few in Victoria, but they're not very common.

one other dobe in my village, poor boy is a clinical bleeder and has thyriod problems, on top of the worse crop job I've ever seen. Haven't seen him this spring, he was getting up there in age. The owners had talked to me about eventually getting a pup, in their words they cheaped out and didn't go to a breeder for him, and have spent more than double the price in vet bills. So sad to see him b/c I didn't even recognize him as a dobe when I moved there.

There are none in my neighborhood and only a few in my town. There is one only a few minutes up the road, named Vader, he is a black male that stands about 30 inches tall and weighs 100#, he is owed by my sons friend. He is a big beautiful, sweet baby. Petey met him when he was about 5 months old, and Vader attacked poor little Petey! He had never done that before...so that was the end of their potential friendship. An antiques dealer up town takes her Red Male to work...people are always telling me about him, how good he is, big, gorgeous...etc. From what I hear he is also taller then Petey, he is an EXCELLENT ambassador for the breed. I've seen three others in my town, a Large Black Kimbertal Male, another Large Black Puppy-Mill bred male, and a normal size black female. My town is full of Goldens and Labs.

Carol & Petey!

I've got a neighbor with a red male just around the corner. They got him as a rescue a few months ago, and he and the boys are getting to know each other.

I also know of another red boy a few blocks away. I did some babysitting and training for the owner last year.

That's all I can think of. There quite a few black females that come to the dog park though.
