Well it was a normal day yesterday, I took the dogs out in the morning and also in the evening as it was cooler last night.
I always keep them on a lead when we go on the park as Wez is a bit funny with other dogs :( anyway We had been on the park for about 5 mins when a guy cam on with a pitbull. The dog saw us and just charged towards us. It jumped on Gizz biting the back of his neck and Gizz managed to fight it off, then it turned on Wez :( It bit his mouth and his ear Gizz jumped in to protect Wez and bit the dog on the cheek. After this the dog ran off. I was shaking and trying to check that they were ok when the owner of the dog came charging upto me and was shouthing at me telling me how aggressive dogs like mine  should be muzzled:eek2: OMG i couldnt believe it, I called the police and this guy ran off.
It was such a horrible thing I'm still shaking now :( Both dogs needed stiches but it could have been alot worse. Some people really shouldnt be able to keep dogs

Oh my, what a horrible experience. I'm so glad your dog's were injured worse. Poor Wez, already to have issues with other dogs, this will just make that problem go away huh?

That is Terrible. I am glad that your dogs didn't get hurt any more than they were. I would have been steaming. The nerve of the guy to call your dogs aggressive when his dog came after yours. What did the poice say? Hope they feel better.

So sorry to hear that, I hope you and your guys feel better. And I hope they weren't effected (psychologically) by it, especially young Wez. I know my girl was for a little bit when a boxer attacked her when she was only 6 months.

Good luck and please keep us posted on their recovery.

Oh my gosh! Errrr that makes me mad too! The other day I walked around the block with Duch...and first a hound mix puppy came running right up to her...and the owner was yelling for her to come back ...(I had treats so the puppy wasnt going to listen to him) lol The guy was probably scared of the doberman on the leash it ran up to lol. Luckily Duch is fine with other dogs and they met each other and I walked the puppy back using treats. THEN on the way around again an older Rott/mix dog came running up to Duchess...I was trying to keep them apart (they were just sniffing and circling) then the guy came running up apologizing and I asked if she is friendly with dogs and he said yes...so I relaxed a bit. I didnt walk Coco around that same block right after like I usually would cause Coco really cant tolerate weird dogs and gets defensive out of fear.
Do you know this guy? like is he a neighbor of yours? You can tell since he ran off that he was just making excuses about his dog by saying that about your dogs.
I have a question though...
Let's say I was walking Coco who is fear aggressive on the leash around the block using the side of the street and well away from everything. What if that unleashed friendly puppy ran up to coco (who is leashed) and he or any other aggressive dog snapped at the friendly unleashed dog that ran up to the aggressive dog since you cant keep them apart since the other dogs off leash...who gets in trouble? the person walking their dog aggressive dog controlled on the leash? or the person that leaves their dog off leash or off leash at the time...even on accident or cause they always do?

Some people definatley should not have dogs. I hope wez and gizz are okay!

Oh man that really sucks. But I can kinda understand how you feel though my experence didnt get that far. Im so sorry about your babies! But I had caught some teens around our fence one time throwing things at my dogs and teasing them and so on. Awhile later i caught them again but that time with a friend, young black kid with a young pit. They were all up on my fence this time being nice and sweet calling Vegas by his name trying to get him to come to the fence. I know what he was doing. he wanted to see how the dogs would "react". I wanted to beat his ass to be honest. But that is an example of someone who shouldnt have a pit either!

Vikki, Hugs to you and your babies first and how are you doing at the moment? That is certainly an unraveling experience. Your dogs should be fine psychologically. That is one of the awesome qualities of dogs, although he may show to be more protective, but who knows what they really think--huh. You can't help, but worry. That guy sure had a lot of damn nerve. It really pi^&^es me off thinking about it.

This is really awful. Bandit got bit last year on the ear by a Min. Schz. The woman let her dog come up to Bandit and them snap!! After she tell's me oh my dog is dog aggressive. Why in the @###@ did she let her dog approach I will never know. Anyway's Bandit tends to be a little afraid when first meeting new dogs. Hope they recover o.k.

What i said to kids

Well first i saw them out my bathroom window. i went running like mad through the house cause i had been basically waiting to catch them in the act. my hubby came out after me cause he saw me flying past the room. I went out that door and they had already walked around my neighbors house. so i followed. and I went to yelling at that kid, mind you he was old enough to know what he was doing, like 14-15 yrs old. He looked at me all wide eyed cause im sure he thought i might was about to beat his ass. and if he was my kid i would have! I told him it was kids like him who give bad names to such good dogs and he should be ashamed. And then said what would you have done beings you dont know my dog, if he had jumped the fence cause you were basically baiting YOUR dog. And what if my dog had really hurt yours.(his pit was just a young pup) I said then you would have wanted me to pay for it, when the reality was it would have been basically YOUR FAULT. And if I EVER found him in my yard again.....I would call PMO, and walk him home to have a chat with his parents. His actions could have been a direct result of my dog not likeing other dogs, or with them teasing him, not likeing other kids.....And that is something I just cant have.

good that you walked him home to have a chat with his parents! thats funny you mentioned the thing about jumping the fence cause my parents said our old old dobe from when I was little was being teased by some bully kids and she actually did jump the fence chased only a little bit but then turned right back around. Good thing she left it at just that. :)

exactly....thats what vegas got to where he would do. when they would just walk by the fence he would just run like mad over to it barking and raising cane, to try to scare them back. It really made me sick to be honest i didnt want my babies to have to deal with that. so i kinda pushed hubby harder about looking for a house. we had been looking but couldnt find what fit what we needed. so was relaxing with the issue a bit, after that we had to step it up and get out of base housing. Im glad that we did and that vegas just loves kids to death. but that just goes to show ya how some kids are. but now in the new house he is much better.

Generally as long as you are following local leash laws it is the unleashed dog's owner's fault.

Think of it as drunk driving, if I am drunk and driving my car and you run a red light and slam into me, the accident is my fault because I am not following the law. Even though you hit me, I should not have been there in the first place, because I was drunk.

Hiya been having comp probs so not been on line for a while. The boys are doing fine apart from Wez who is now even worse with other dogs :(. Before he used to bark and growl at them and that was all, now he lunges in and attacks them :( People round here dont understand that when a dog is kept on a lead and is barking and growling at their dog that maybe they should call their dog back. I'm going to have to get a muzzle for Wez, all because of one stupid dog 'owner' .

so sorry to hear about the attack and that wez is still struggling with it. of all the dogs, who deserve a break, it's that little guy. Have you brought Wez to puppy kindergarten yet? that kind of socialising, rather than a dog park, may help him realize that not all other dogs are awful.

good luck with your babies.
