Introduction | Puppy Thread | Adult Thread

Hope grew up on Dobermantalk. From the first pics taken when he came home to the final set of frisbee frolicking shots taken last week, there was little I enjoyed more than sharing his life - both the ups and downs - with this forum.

While he had his challenges, due in no small part to our failures as owners, Hope was a loyal, loving, beautiful boy who was only 2.5 years old when he passed. My wife was at her desk, and when she got up, Hope did not follow in his usual velcro’d-to-her-hip manner. He remained motionless on the carpet, and when she checked, he was gone. He never made a sound.

I was already downtown at the end of a ride and met her at the vet. There was nothing to do but say goodbye to our boy, the love and light of our lives, the dog who saved us after losing Red to cancer in 2020.

A collection of Hope's pics over the years:

Hope, we miss you with everything we have and are broken beyond repair. You were too young, and too full of vibrant life for this to make any sense and if love could have saved you this would never have happened.

Goodbye, Hope. We love you so much. This house is hollow and lost without you.

I'm so sorry 💜💜
I’m so very heartbroken reading this 😢. My heart goes out to you and your family. I loved seeing Hopes goofy pictures that you posted and I’m honestly in shock. I wish I had words to take the pain of this loss away, but all I can say is that my heart aches for you and I’m sending hugs from afar. ♥
Thank you both. The shattering helplessness of this one is unimaginably hard.

I am so sorry and in tears. It is so difficult to lose a loving fun dober-boy when they are so young. I really feel for you as we recently went through something similar but not so fast.
Real Bear Hugs.
I know you lost your last boy and were hoping that Hope would fill your lives up again with all that he could. Which he did with all of his body, mind and heart. Again so very, very sorry. Just awful.
He was beautiful and you should remain proud that he was your boy.

Hope> you play with Loki at RB > and wait patiently and long for your special humans. xxxx

How devastating. So very sorry for all of you.

Oh no so sorry to hear this. I loved following his thread all the time. It's so hard to lose a dog young like that.
I am sorry for your loss. It seemed to be peaceful and in your presence which is some solace that can be taken from young and unexpected death.

I am so sorry to hear this very sad news. I have loved following Hopes story over the last couple of years. The extent that your family went to when he had his sudden personality change basically sets the bar, as far as I am concerned, when it comes to the lengths that Doberman owners will go to to insure a safe and happy Doberman household.

Best to you and your family. Hugs to Faith.

Run free Hope....

I'm so very sorry, CMT. What a difficult and terrible loss. My prayers go out for you for peace.
Oh no! That was so shocking...devastating for you and poor Faith must be wondering where her bestie went.

I loved the pictures you posted and applauded the effort you put into making his life OK when that whole odd business with his reactivity (only to you) was going on.

Go, Hope, go where the good dogs go--you'll find several of my boys to run with...

CMT, so very, very sorry for your loss. RIP and run free sweet Hope! 💔
Oh, @CMT that is devastating news. My heart goes out to you all. You gave Hope such a wonderful life and it was a joy to follow his journey. There are no words. 💔
I am sorry for your loss and the pain that you are going through
I’m so very sorry. Run free Hope.
I'm so sorry.
Thank you, everyone, for your kindness and understanding. It's been a long day with Hope on my mind for every second of it. As always, it's going to take time to grieve and heal, but it burns harder than past losses.

No matter how much time we have with them, it is never, ever enough, but this one was unbearably short.
