Hi guys I'm a new member here and I'm looking forward to sharing and communicating with you guys!

I run a Doberman rescue and I've taken a lot of time out to concentrate on looking after our baby who's now 2 years old.

I'm now just starting to slowly get around to getting my rescue going again, I'm taking my time as space is pretty limited right now but I'm working on getting more established for the future.

I've also been wanting to get in touch with other Doberman guardians as I'm the only person I know with one.

Here's me & my daughter with Luke out hiking.

So here's to sharing!!!:cool2:

Hi Kinteet.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to guys like you who run the Dobie Rescues.

You'll find no shortage of folks here to talk about Dobermans.

Some of us like to go hiking, too.

Welcome! I am owned by a 14 month young Fawn dobie girl named Princess. Two thumbs up to you for running a rescue. I think there are a few guardians here that would love to share ideas and stories with you as I am sure all of us here will.

Welcome to the forum :)
Glad to see you realize the importance of pictures :) You're daughter is beautiful and Luke is very handsome :)
I have a black/rust named Chihiro and am from the St. Louis area but currently live on Okinawa Japan - if you like to hike hills, you should come over here, you can't find a one mile stretch that doesn't have some kind of grade, which stinks when you're new to running and training for your first marathon :)

Wow!!!

you guys are so blessed to have such beautiful characters in your lives.

Yeah, I love to go hiking with Luke, I'm in Dallas and we have a nature reserve with a bunch of trails on it and that is the only thing that really wears Luke out! I'm heavy into fitness so I will try to push myself as much as I can.

I love posting photo's too, I think I've even got some video's of Luke too!

Cool!!!!!!!

This forum is really good, you guys seem real friendly, I'm really not into most forums that have a bunch of people swearing, etc. I love forums where people are really passionate and love to participate.

I think I started out in rescue the same way most people start....I was given Luke because his family couldn't keep him anymore!

Apparently he used to jump fences which tells me that they probably left him unsupervised for long periods at a time.....:sadcry:

He's a big German boy so he can look intimidating at first glance, he was also totally unsocialised and amongst other things didn't like men at all, we couldn't walk by a man without him freaking out, he just doesn't like men being around where he couldn't see them he gets real skittish and scared!

When other dogs bark at him he seems to have no clue what's going on.

it took a while but we worked with each other and he's worked out a lot of his bad habits, he still doesn't like men behind him but he's so much better and my daughter and him are inseparable, he's become a good guard dog too.

I've been in rescue for about four years, I started out with Malamutes but decided to make a change when my personal one passed on of old age then I took time out for a while because we had a child then we got Luke and I decided to ease myself back in to rescue again.

Rescue is hard because other groups don't trust you in the begining and it takes some time to establish yourself also finding suitable adopters is real hard and I'm always weary of where my guys and gals go to! I've learnt so much in rescue and there's really nothing like a dog getting a new home!:boldblue:

Welcome to the forum! I have Bruno who is my first Dobe :) He's almost 7 months. He's the best thing ever. He and my son's are also inseperable. :)

Your daughter is ADORABLE as is Luke. I love pictures of Dobe's with children. It's so cute to see. I have so many of my boys with Bruno. :)

Great to have you here and so nice to hear about the rescue. I think that's awesome. I'd love to open up my own rescue shelter one day :) Besides my sister, I too am the only one I know with a Dobe in my area. It's so rare to see them here.

Happy posting the ppl are awesome here. So friendly and full of advice/information.

In my town (Area) it's rare to see them. I'm from a small town and I think I've seen one other Dobe since having my Bruno. It was a "natural" dobe. An older lady was walking him/her. Being that they are so rare here. I get stopped a lot by ppl and the first thing they say is "wow, you don't see this breed around often".

Hi kinteet! welcom to you, your lovely daughter and to luke. I have a five year old rescue - we just got him in January - named Apollo. he is just the sweetest doberboy you can imagine. even my mom who is terrified of dobes - you know how they turn on their masters and eat small children ;) thinks he is the sweetest thing. he is my second dobe and is taking a bit of work. his last family wanted to put him down because he did not respect the invisible fence they put up (cats are so much fun to chase! sorry you guys who have cats, but that's pollo talking not me!) thank god the vet knew the local rescue folks and we were able to get him.

he had his second day at OB school on Suturday and did quite well - he gets very stressed in new situations.

i am so glad you found us, if it weren't for people like you my pollo woulnd't be sleeping on my feet and I am sure that thousands of other wonderful dogs would have been put down but for folks like you. thank you for all you do. you make sure you tell your daughter that her daddy is a hero
