Odin went to the Vet today for a routine check up and we want to get him "snipped" now and the vet agrees that his age is a good time to get him neutered. Sadly its booked in for the 18 Apr... which is his 2nd Birthday. Not the best present I could give to him but beggars can't be choosers. Also not too expensive so I am happy about that!

Well the hubby got advised by the vet for us to change Odin's food as he has gotten a few bits of Acne again. He said to get Happy Dog Ireland which I have never heard of and looking into it there are mixed reviews on the quality. What I would like to know is what do you think of it quality wise?

Happy Dog Supreme Ireland: Great Deals on Happy Dog Dog Food at zooplus

Also which food brands are the best and what does everyone feed their dog? Have looked on dogfoodanalysis.com but a lot of those foods are American and impossible to get hold of in Germany.

Where is his Acne? If it on his chin do not feed or drinking water from plastic bowles. Use Stainless Steel and wash them every day.
Some other better foods that are on the same site as the Happy Dog Ireland are Taste of the Wild, Acana, and Orijen

The Vet said it was just Acne? Some other things which are great for skin and coat. You can add in his food 2400mg fish oil or Krill Oil. start out with 1200mg for a week first. 400iu Vit E, Organic Coconut oil, Sardines in Pure Olive Oil.

I looked at happy dog on zooplus a while ago, but much better from that site is Lukullus chicken and wild salmon, if you can get it where you are. Cheaper than Orijen etc but still a good food, and he did excellent on it. Only took him off it as I found another food cheaper again that seems to suit him well.

do you have photos of the "pimples"?

did he do a skin scraping, my girl gets some sort of hives but I am taking her to the vet (for the third time) because now they bleed when she scratches them and when the vet says "dont worry about it, pimples or minor food allergy" I want real answers damn it!

Btw two different vets, one I trust and one i am not so sure about.

Back to the food, Happy dog looks ok (well that formula) but I would prefer to see barley as the 4th ingredient not the first.. the Acana Pacific looks good with just fish meal and no grains so it would probably be pretty good for allergies BUT if you dont know what these pimple things are I would want to know that first.. A definitive answer, thats what youre paying them for :)

I feed my girl Artemis large breed puppy but will be changing to Ziwipeaks venison and fish when shes older (its expensive but boy its wonderful food)

Luckily our vet is a skin specialist and has done skin scrapings on him and then used a telescope with a camera to bring up the slide on a computer screen which shows us the bacteria! Kind of gross yet fascinating really, but only my hubby took him as I was working so I dont know if he did it this time! We have antibiotics for Odin so I presume it's a staff infection! I do trust this vet so I am hoping its not the same where they are saying its food allergies however what he explained did make sense in regards to what he gets fed both treats and food wise so I shall change the food to see if that helps!

Thanks for everyone's advise and help!
