Hello, I got introduced to the breed by my exboyfriend. I will never have another breed again. I joined the forum because I love dobermans and I wanted to ask a question. I had to leave my baby with my ex because, we had two of them and they were together for 5yrs. and I didn't want to pull them away from eachother. My question is, where can I find a good breeder around Rockford, IL. where I'm not going to pay an arm and a leg for another baby? I would adopt from a rescue but, I have a special needs daughter and you don't always know what you are going to end up with. My daughter and I both miss our dogs and would love to get another one. If anybody can help me out I would appriciate it.

I can't help you with locating a breeder, but I just wanted to say hi. I live in Marengo. I have a special needs son who has developed quite a bond with our dobe Maya. We will be losing her soon, and when I am ready, we will be getting another one. They are quite a breed.

An ethical, responsible breeder is going to charge $1500-$2500 for a puppy. If that's out of your price range, I think you could definitely find the right rescue dog as long as you're willing to be patient. Illinois Doberman Rescue has a lot of great dogs and I'm sure they could find the right placement for you and your daughter. Sometimes they even have puppies available for adoption.
