Hello from MD

4 y/o going on 5 y/o male Dobie with a 29 y/o male human. Found each other when living with a drunk that couldn't take care of herself, let alone a dog. So after being locked in bathrooms and basements, we both moved out to sunny middle river, MD. :graduate:

Now we're eating better, have a woman in our lives that we love and loves us and have a addition to the family on the way. :)

Doberdog is into chewing and ripping stuffing out of stuffed animals. Loves running in circles. Will do it when excited.

Human likes motorcycles, guns, and bbq. Tries to run, but no where near as enthusiastic about it.

Hello and Welcome to DT. Congrats on the new addition in family. 4 going 5 and still chewing ? Man...I thought my 1 yr old chewing because he's still a young pup. Mine does run in circle as well with a toy in his mouth like a little human child. Kinda funny and cute...lol

Hope you like it here. Lots of info and great Dobie peeps here. Hehehe

He only chews on his chew toys. He never chews on anything that he's not supposed to chew on. Well, maybe a chicken bone from the trash or too. He used to chew on wood when he got his adult teeth, but that was in the drunks house.

I have a question for you guys. Do you think he's fat? He was really fat at one point, so I put him on a diet and he got his "figure" back, but he still has that little fat roll over his leg when he sits. You can see it in the pic with the motorcycle.

He's handsome!
From the pictures I'd say no, but it's hard to tell. If you get a picture of him standing from the side, perhaps from the front also, and then one looking down on his back we could tell a little better. There is a great thread on this somewhere, I'll try to find it for you.

Edit: Here it is... Is your dog overweight?
There is a great chart on page one and I think another on page two. Plus there's tons of wonderful pictures too :]

Yeah, he's definitely a little pudgy, but at least not in a huge way! Perhaps a little extra exercise and a cup or two less of food. You'll find a good balance, I'm sure :] My boy just recently had to start being fed less. I dropped him from 5-6 cups all the way down to two. Of course, he's young so I think he had finished a growth spurt, plus, since moving, he doesn't get nearly as much exercise as he used to. What/how much do you feed?

I feed him Orijen 80/20. Normally 3 cups. I guess I could cut him down to 2 cups.

Anyone got a pic of cup handy ? Please post it here. I just wanna get an idea how big of a cup everyone is talking about. Don't wanna feed too much, loosing the look of his rep. or not enough, starving the poor thing to death. You know what I mean ?

TIA.

1 cup like a 1 cup measuring cup. My hubby uses a huge mug when he feeds and calls it a cup. Fortunately, I don't let him feed very often.....

He looks like a nice boy. :)

Welcome to the DT, your dog is handsome and be careful following what the dog food says they love for you to overfeed so you will buy more dogfood.
I loved your pictures. I'm glad you're happy !!
