Congrats on Buddy's achievement!
I will never understand how people can be so careless as to let their dogs run loose. Besides the fact that they can be injured or killed by a car, I'd be worried that the dog would be picked up and sold for medical testing, byb'g or dog-fighting.
I can appreciate your anxiety when approached by a Mastiff, Tiny. I find that since I've owned a Dobe (or been owned by one), I am even less afraid of big dogs - not that I ever was nervous around them. I had a big dog run up to me at the DP and try to jump up and bite at my mittens and (I'm not sure where it came from) I just grabbed his collar and told him to 'sit' in a firm voice. Of course the owner was too busy nursing her coffee and chatting at the other side of the DP to keep an eye on her lab, so I wasn't about to apologize for disciplining her dog. Had I been a child I could have been knocked over and injured.
