with an older couple i would say that a rescue would be a great idea, as long as they have a fenced yard and all the other qualities of a suitable adoptee home. Try dpca.org there is a list of rescues if I'm not mistaken. You can probably locate a rescue dog within driving distance

yeah, not really "elderly," older would have been a better word choice as in the baby boomer generation.
