Found a pic of Chi's 1/2 sister on the net.

Ain't she purdy?

Out of utter boredom today, I dug out Chi's pedigree and was trying to find pics of her mom and grandparents on her mother's side. I've found out just about everything I can on her dad's side (I think). I didn't have any luck finding mom but I did find her 1/2 sis :) I translated this webpage and the diary of how Alp or Gal (not sure of the name LOL) came to be where she is and even translated, very little made much sense. I really need to learn this language :)

Here's the site if you want to try to make sense of it :) http://homepage2.nifty.com/gawgawworld/doberman.htm

If you go to the url that I posted and click on that little link right under her picture, it will take you to her pedigree. She and Chi have the same mom. The only notable dog I've found on that side of the pedigree though is the great grand sire - Intl. Ch. Top Direction Thunder Snake is one of the top producing studs here in Japan. Her great grand dam is an American bred dog named Ch. Oshan's Miss USA but I've not been able to find out anything about her...
She is a cutie pie :) Does it say anything about how old she is? She looks a bit thicker then Chi, but maybe it's the angle, she certainly is a pretty girl though!

Thundersnake was a very beautiful dog. I used to have some pictures of him sent by the breeder, as many of my dogs have been closely related to him..don't think I have the pics any longer.

Oshan was a doberman breeding program that never really took off too far here in the US. The breeder was/is heavily involved in Min pins, and somehow wound up with one dobe bitch (Ch. Sosume of Ampns)..from the looks of my pedigree database, the only doberman breeding done was with this bitch. She was sired by Ch. Shinya's The Jewel Thief and out of Starfire's Fear No Evil (who also was very closely related to many of my dogs).

Ch. Sosume of Ampns was bred to a Cryptonite son, Ch. Ravenswood Cairo v Aquarius to produce a litter..that's the only litter I can find listed produced by this bitch or carrying the Sosume kennel name.
Murreydobe,
you said he "was" a pretty dog - I didn't realize he had died. He was born in 97, so if you ask me, he didn't live nearly long enough. Do you know, by any chance, the cause of death? Here is a link to some pictures of Top Direction dogs: http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~top-dobe/TD_dog.htm
ThunderSnake is Chi's Great Grand sire on her mothers side, but Ch. Neuvelle Vendome Casanova (also pictured on this page) is her grand sire on fathers side and I could have sworn that I found a picture of Top Direction Gold Freak on this site (her father) but now can't seem to find it again.

*All this talk of DCM and the problems associated with Dobermans has got me interested in finding out everything I can about Chi's family. I do know that her great grand sire on her fathers side died at a relatively young age due to cancer (I think) thanks to BlackDog and the few names I've found in the OFA data base have all came back good or excellent (little good that does me considering Chi's already has hip issues) - That and it's fun to look at all the pretty pictures and try to figure out what the Japanese web sites are saying :)

Lex,
I don't remember her exact age, but I remember noticing that she's a couple years older than Chi. I also noticed the "thickness" but can't decide if that's structure or if she's just very well loved and no stranger to food. :) I loved the video of her doing her "happy dance" she looked quite a bit thinner in that. But if our darling little Chihiro keeps growing like she is, she'll be every bit as thick LOL

Just a figure of speech saying Thundersnake "was" a pretty dog..I really don't know if he's still alive or not. I'm VERY familiar with a lot of the dogs behind Thundersnake..and that's a family group that's been surrounded with DCM.

My puppy's grandsire is Ch. Neuvelle Vendome Hidden Dragon, a litter brother to Ch. Neuvelle Vendome Casanova. He lives quite near me, I know him well-not only is he beautiful, he's a delightful dog. This litter was bred in the US and whelped by a friend of mine for the owner, I saw them all as little guys..unfortunately most of the litter was then exported to Japan..Hidden Dragon and a litter sister, Neuvelle Vendome Deboras (who was offered for sale to me) were the only ones to stay here.

The dam of Casanova and Hidden Dragon, Ch. Royal Doll's Maria Telejia (call name Teresa) was one of my all time favorite bitches. She was a multi BIS winner in both the US and Japan, and won the DPCA National, I think that might have been in 1999. I've been told Teresa is dead, cause of death a blockage.

Not the most encouraging news to ever read - but it is kind of nifty that our dogs are like 2nd cousins :) I truly doubt this island has ever seen a holter monitor much less provides them for testing - will put that on my list of things to do when we return to the US. Thanks for the info :)

I really doubt you could find a doberman anywhere in the world that *doesn't* have DCM involvement somewhere in a 4-5 generation pedigree..so you're in good company.

Holter monitors have their value, but we really can't rely on them alone to do cardiac screening. Echocardiograms measure the actual diameters of the cardiac walls and efficiency of the valves-and that's just as important as trying to find rhythm disturbances with a Holter.

Actually, my puppy was supposed to be sired by Ch. Neuvelle Vendome Hidden Dragon..her dam was bred to him during one heat period, but missed. The breeder lives in Alaska, and it proved too difficult to arrange getting the bitch down here to southern CA to repeat the breeding. So instead, she was bred to a Hidden Dragon son, Ch. Foxfire's Dragon's Lair.

Here's a picture of her at 7 months of age..no recent ones, unfortunately..she's 10 months old now.
My mistake, I misread your last post and thought you said that Casanova was your pups grand sire... She is beautiful, I'm sure you're very proud of her :)
Thanks so much for taking the time to share this information. If I ever seriously get into Dobes (I would like to show one day just for fun but doubt if I could ever breed) I'll certainly be armed with plenty of knowledge when it comes to picking out a breeder :)

It's about time you realized Tia rightfully belongs to me!!! Will set my e-mail to check every 30 seconds and will make sure to leave plenty of food and water out for when she arrives, I'm on my way to volunteer and Jordan's school... That, or just hold off a couple hours before you hit "send" :)
Trust me Tracy you do not want her for at least another 2 weeks she is an absolute nightmare when she is in season, constant chewbacca noises and picking on the other two.
