Quick question. Coco is creeping up on one year and seems a tad thin. Roughly 53lbs and 26 inches in height...

Vet wants me to feed her 5.25 cups of food a day as the food is 360/kg a cup.

Can anyone comment on the size of her etc?

What is the feeding guidelines, on the bag?
- like, how many cups for a 100# dog (then adjust accordling)
- and what brand of kibble, are you buying Coco
(some foods are rich in grain protein, while others are much-much better and meat protein based)

Another thread to study: http://www.dobermantalk.com/puppy-corner/67136-when-did-your-pup-stop-eating-much.html
The dog bag seems a little off. I was going by how she looked, able to feel the ribs but not see except last 2, etc. Lately however she just looked a tad thin and I brought her to the vet just to get her checked out and all is A-OK, just thin he said and the "new" guidelines.

Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream is the kibble and it states anywhere from 2 1/3 - 3/3/4 for 40-60 lbs

My 100lb doberboy is 31" and has a slow metabolism, and he only ate 3 to maximum 3 1/2 cups per day on TOTW. But he has an insanely low metabolism. I would think your girl who is growing, active, young, etc, would eat much more than that. There are plenty of people with active Dober teens on here that eat over 5 cups a day. I would slowly build her up to the vet's recommendation, but if she starts getting pudgy, obviously cut back.

TOTW is one of the brands that has been recalled recently. You should check your bag, to make sure it is not in the recall.

As far as the amount you are feeding, the guidelines on the bag are a starting point. If she's too thin, give her more. I have a very active two year old mutt who weighs just under 50 pounds, and she is eating 3.5 cups a day. My 15 week old GSD puppy, who I'm guessing is around 30 pounds, is getting 5.25 cups a day.

ETA: Leontine (puppy) weighs 32 pounds, and is still too thin, but she has gained 12 pounds in just over three weeks.

My bag is good thank god. That was quite the scare... I will build it up slowly and see how she looks. She is VERY active and gets walked quite a bit so we shall see how it goes.
