Favorite New Enrichment Toy

1274 Views 30 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  MMcCown
Not sponsored or subsidized, but my trainer posted about a new enrichment toy few weeks ago. It looked interesting, so I got one. It is 100% ”Beau-approved”. The mywoof ”pupsicle” is similar to stuffing a Kong but for whatever reason, Beau enjoys it way more. The large is about the size of a slightly flattened baseball and the middle unscrews so you can insert a treat ball, then screw the middle back in. I bought the bag of soft pre-made treats and the mold to make my own. I get 20 minutes of a blissed out dog with eyes shut, just enjoying his treat. Something he has never done with the Kong. A huge hit, so much so, I just ordered a 2nd kit.
If you are looking for a new toy for your dog, check it out!

I've been seeing this advertised on FB, and couldn't quite figure out exactly how it worked...now I'm intrigued.

@MeadowCat it is great! Dishwasher safe, easy to use, has stood up to daily use with a heavy chewer. I only wish they made a jumbo size. The large supposedly holds about 2 1/2 ounces but I think it’s more like a heaping tablespoon of whatever. The favorites have been beef broth-soaked kibble topped with Greek yogurt, sardine slurry, and peanut butter with ghee (all frozen).

So far there is no mess from it. There are little divots in the rim of the toy called something like drool slots that seem to work. Also, I think the size of the frozen ball helps because it freezes HARD. It would take an eye out if someone whipped it at you. He usually finishes it before any mess happens. So far, so good and I have had a variety of different food things in there. For me, it is a lot cleaner than a Kong. Cleaner in use and easier TO clean.

Does it last longer than a frozen kong for your dog?

He’s never really enjoyed Kongs so I can’t really tell you. There is something about the Kong shape that has never appealed to him.

It lasts him anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes depending on what I put in it. The premade treat balls last about 15 minutes. The treats I make without kibble (sardine slurry, PB&yogurt) last about 25 minutes.

Mine arrived today! I had some Honest Kitchen lying around that I use in my Toppls, so I decided to try freezing some of that in the mold. We'll see how it works - I'll let Leon try it out tomorrow!

I emailed the company to let them know how much we like the product and ask if they will be releasing a jumbo size. The exciting news is that YES, they are working on a XL version!

That's awesome - I was going to say that the only feedback before even using it is that I predict we would love a larger version.

When smarty-pants Beau figures out how to unscrew that thing with his big paws & teeth, we expect a video! 😁

I read reviews that the rubber is softer than a kong - how do they compare? I worry about my dog unscrewing it, because he managed to unscrew the lid to his wobbler-type toy when the opening accidentally closed up.

Beau is pretty crafty and destroys everything but if your pup is extra crafty, there is no telling what he’ll do. The rubber is, for lack of a better expression, gummy. In that, I mean that it is not squishy but it is not slick. It has grip AND the thing is actually threaded, so the top really does screw on and off.

Also, for those of you who got one - if the screw top is tough to remove or screw in, they recommend adding a drop of olive oil to the threads. Works a treat!

I'm still awaiting our Pupsicle order, which has shipped!

DP, just wanted to add that we've had good luck with the Roll of the Dice treat dispensing toys available on Chewy with (3) adult Dobermans (well current one has adult body) over a period of 12 years since 2011 and never had to throw one out. I just cut up chicken jerky and stuff inside, which will keep Dobes & our mutt busy for minimum of 30-45 minutes. I purchased more so when we leave house we can stuff them all and have keep the pack busy. Dogs know them as their "blocks". The Kong shaped toys never kept their interest long.

Both Spock and current Neo are power chewers with molars and past Dobergal Eva was a front incisor shredder chewer. None have destroyed these particular toys, unlike all the others including the Heavy Duty Holee Rollers and WestPaw solid rubber toys. However, Bug had a story on DT about one piece of one being extracted from some Dobe's gut in the past... 😲

This sounds like a dream!!! 30 to 45 min?? I have to give my dog 6 frozen Kongs and a chew to keep him busy for that long! I will definitely look into that toy! Thank you so much for the tip!
