I posted a little while ago about my Vet cropping Esau's ears and him stating no posting is necessary after. I have not posted since the stent/stitches removal. I have the supplies but his ears aren't fully healed yet. The crop is very short - but I like it this way. I am not showing him and just want the ears to stand and not flop. I know it isn't pretty to most people, but I like the crop. I do see the ears are not perfectly standing as there is a fold in them but the top is quite tight and hard when alert.

What are your thoughts on these ears and the future?

He has a very sweet face and I am glad you are pleased with how short they are.

It looks like he has Cane Corso ears and my understanding (I have a friend who has CCs) is that even those are posted for a bit. It looks like he has pockets and when he finishes teething the ears may fold over his head.

I am not an expert but I would post.

If you post them, as MMc suggested, they will look nice as a short crop, as in your avatar pic, but even a bit straighter & matched, not with pockets folding ears over top of his head. When he grows up, into his ears, you will be glad you posted them. What is his age now?

Yes. I didn't realize they looked like Cane Corso ears. I always liked that crop which is probably why I like Esau's.

Thank you for the advice.

Yes. That is without the fold (pocket). He is just shy of 12 weeks.

If you are asking for opinions, I would personally post them - I don't think it will take you much effort to get them nicely straightened out. If it were me, I would post for a while. It's really pretty easy to do. Not only that, but it teaches your puppy good handling skills - handling their ears while posting is a good foundation skill for vet care and grooming.

I would post, as well. It looks like the main reason they are standing is that they have pockets.
Thank you.

Pockets keep them standing?
Pockets don't look great. But it's interesting that when he is alert they stand without pockets.
Anyway, in a couple of days when fully healed I will begin posting and see how it goes.

Yes. Thank you. I have posted before and it isn't so difficult. Straight is definitely better than pockets.

My dobe has similar medium-length crop, and they stood without posting. What I mean by that is- I tried to post properly and the insides of his ear would get raw and I'd have to wait a while to heal.... repost, ears become raw, repeat. I followed all the instructions and watched videos but still raw skin whenever he'd shake and scratch. During this ordeal the ears just stood by themselves. However! The pockets persisted just like the ones in your pic, so I made a half post with tampons + rolled up cardboard as a bumper, pushed against the ear pocket. That fixed the pocket problem within days and we never had to post again.

This is very interesting. This has been my thought process when I made my 2 posts/comments in that the ears are standing - but with the big pockets. The bumper was aligned with the top of the half posts or somewhere down?

Definitely post them.
