Ear Question

Okay...Rommels ears are standing, But......I have a question....

They seem like they lean out?? Its kind of hard to explain....Like they are not pointed straight up unless he scruntches his head up on top. Is it because he is so young with such long ears??? He kinda looks like a rabbit! Haha.. Will he get more control of them and hold them straight up, or do I just need to keep taping??

Like this....

Oh and one more, just for good measures! :) Heheh...:3dbiggrin

Thanks in advance, you guys are the greatest-ist-ister!

Keep taping, Deacon had the same look going for awhile. I love the pics, he is just so darn cute!
Wow, he's so cuuuute. And I know that ear look, too...it always made me think there was a bat flying towards me...

Keep taping (and bridging the two ears), or get a "wolf rack" plastic device that is adhered on and acts as a bridge between the two ears. It is shaped like this |_| where "_" part rests on his head. I've never seen them for sale anywhere though :(

you gotta keep taping. When Cody was a pup we kept hearing about the wolf rack but was never able to find one. we braced his ears with tape right at the base of his ears. that helped keep them verticle. you just run the tape from one to the other and then again sticky side to sticky side. if you do that a few time it will be pretty sturdy. Just be careful not to pull them to close together and not wrap the tape too tight around the bottom. but keep those posts in for a bit longer.

Keep taping :) You're doing a good job though! He's got really tall ears!
Okay, I will keep taping. Thanks so much you guys...saves me a trip back to the vet (way far) where I got his ears done. I really appreciate all of the feedback and compliments.

(Yes, his ears are really long!!!!) When I got them done, I told the vet that I liked the reallllllllly long ears, and that is what I got! Haha. They look alot longer now than when we drew them out on the ear, I figure he will grow into them. :p The vet was awesome though, he let me come in the room after they put him under...so that I could help him draw on the ears and okay the shape. I actually have pics of him "sleeping" and us drawing on his ears....I thought it was pretty cool.
Thanks. He is so silly, and he is always making funny faces, I have heard its a dobe thing. He is very "vocal" too. You should hear him yawn!!!
Those are some crazy ears!!

I used to think the same thing! Just waiting for the puppy to take off and hang from the ceiling.

Haha, I hear ya! Lexus cracks us up with her vocalizations! She doesn't "talk" when working like I've seen some do, but she does constantly groan, grunt, whine, "yowl" when yawning, growl when she is LOVING her scratchings she's getting at the time. It's a hoot to hear them! Especially the groaning!
wow, i cant believe how long his ears are. he does kinda look like a rabbit my baby is 8 weeks and his ear seem so tiny LOL. im hoping that they stand up pretty good since they are small before he gets them cropped.

Awwww, what a cutie. Lucky You!!!! One week of taping, I wish!!!

Just an update: Rom's ears are back in stands, I was only leaving them up like 3 days at a time before, Im gonna try to leave them up 5-7 as long as they dont get smelly. Thanks again for all the advice.
Dobielove: Dont worry about his ears being short, when I got Rommels done, I thought the same thing, thats why I had the vet cut them so long! I kept seeing puppys with long ears, and I thought Rommels were unusually short before cutting so I was worried they would be really short when cut.... Well....needless to say....my little bat-dog had perfectly normal ears. haha.
