I’ve been doing research on ear cropping. I’ve seen a lot of posts about McBride in orlando. The posts about her are pretty old and I found out she no longer does them or at least the vet office she used to work for. That goes for most of the recommendations on this site because of how outdated they are.
i also researched that ear cropping should cost between 200-600 for a reputable job, however the two places I’ve called that crop cost upwards of 850.
If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. I’m trying to get them done soon seeing as she’s a puppy, while not breaking the bank.
I could drive anywhere near orlando or Jacksonville

Hello and welcome to DT. Ear cropping is an art and sometimes you have to drive to find a reputable cropping vet. Few vets still crop, even fewer do it well.

I was not under the impression that McBride wasn't cropping but perhaps that's something recent? Here's a list of the cropping vets I know of and recommend in FL, I have no idea of their proximity to Orlando or Jacksonville sorry:

Dr. James Dee VCA Hollywood Hollywood, Florida 954-920-3556
Marcum Animal hospital Lakeland, Florida 863-858-1718
Suburban Animal Hospital: Coleman Mark Gainsville, Florida 352-377-3361
Sumter County Animal Hospital Dr. Leigh McBride Wildwood, Florida 352-748-5454
Quality Care Animal Hospital - Dr. Renato Mendez Miramar, Florida (954) 964-5557

I hope the names that Gretchen gave you will help you find someone who can do a good Doberman crop on your puppy. I'm answering your post to tell you that those prices for cropping are very out of date.

For a crop of a single puppy the prices that I've seen or heard of lately are more like $500 to $1,000. I think the prices are somewhat less for whole litters but the price of everything in vet medicine has gone up--a lot. I don't know how to get around it and while there are some croppers (and I've seen some of the very bad crops that are showing up done by clinics that claim to be cropping specialist--and maybe they are if you are having one of the cropped bully breeds cropped but not if you want a good Dobe, Dane or Boxer crop.

Good luck in your search--I'm kind of on the wrong side of the country to be of much help on the cropping end of things for you.

Dr Liv Kismartoni recently completed her DPCA Crop Externship. She is with West Coast Veterinary Center in Sarasota. She is one of the best veterinarians I have ever worked with (she is from my area, and got me and many of my dogs through our toughest times).

Just called her place, they no longer do them. Seems to be the case for most places it’s sad to see

Vets have been so over-worked the last year or two--I wonder if some of the cropping vets have backed off doing them because they want to use their limited time treating their acutely and chronically ill pets.
