Dry Nose

5942 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Treythedobie
I noticed a few days ago that his nose was a little dry and he doesn't seem to be drinking as much water lately, but we live in Phoenix and its cooled off the last few days. Today I noticed some crusty stuff on his nose, not sure if its something to be worried about or if there is something I can do for it at home.

I'd have your vet check him out. He might not be feeling well. Crusty nose and a decrease in water intake should be checked out.

Hope he's ok.

Has he been spending more time outside since it's been cooler, maybe snerfling around in the dirt?

There are a bunch of medical things that can cause this, and a bunch of non-medical things, as well. I would probably rub a bit of vasoline or Vitamin E oil (puncture a capsule, and squeeze oil out) on it a couple of times a day... give him something else to do with his mouth so whatever you use can soak in a little before he licks it off. If this doesn't improve things, then I would consult a vet.

Thanks, we have an appt to see the vet on Monday. I don't have vaseline or vitamin E oil, so Ill have to go get one of them. I would think the vitamin E oil would absorb faster than the vasoline.....

He has been outside a bit more lately and I did see him put his nose in some hibiscus (AZ plant) food
