Granted this wasn't a Doberman, so I'm sorry. But I thought about this situation also with someone with a Dobe since it would probably attack the intruder. I'd be heartbroken.

DALLAS — A Chihuahua named Paco tried to sound the alarm that an intruder had entered his owner's Northeast Dallas apartment early Tuesday, but his persistent barks ceased when he was stabbed.
A person with a shotgun and large knife confronted Chris Marbury, who was smoking outside his apartment in the 9800 block of Walnut Street near Audelia Road. The suspect escorted Marbury into his apartment and demanded money.
Marbury's golden Chihuahua began to bark at the suspect, and the intruder grabbed the dog and tried to break his neck, according to the police report.
"He kept barking, so I guess the guy got mad," Marbury said. "Before he put us in the bathroom and was about to leave, he killed him, and then put us in the bathroom and left."
The suspect fled with money and two game consoles.
A Dallas police officer took the wounded dog to a veterinarian for treatment, but his wounds were too serious. Euthanization was required.
No family members were injured and police were searching for the suspect.
