Java does it, usually when she is napping on her floor pillow and/or when I allow her to come up onto our bed. She goes into a trance and before I know it, she's lights out! Sometimes she'll wad the blanket up into a foot-ball sized mound and then bite into it.

Every one of the pups in my first litter did this. Their mom didn't and she weaned them so they weren't taken away too early. I don't know why they do it, but it is cute PLUS it sure seems to sooth them.
Suck, dreamy eyes and out like a light.
One lived till 14 and she was still doing it.

Lovebird as I write this Rock is doing the exact same thing. He's got one of those snuggle pals and he'll nibble on it until he sleeps. I've noticed that he'll fall asleep and then wake up suddenly and start chewing on it again

I think it is so cute....really strange now that Petey is so big and still doing it! My Aunts Dobie Baron was 100# and every day he would drag his blankie upstairs to bed and back downstairs in the morning....she used to buy him moving blankets so they lasted longer. I've lived with and owned 13 dogs over the years...Petey is number 14, none of them did this!

Tuck doesn't suck on them but he does carry around his stuffies, especially his moose...
he does kinda nibble them though - like eating an ear of corn? Doesn't hurt them at all...just kinda chews a bit then stops

Every Dobie I have had has been a blankie sucker. I thought my elder female taught the younger male but then, years later, after both of those pups had passed away, my newest 2 yr old rescue does the same thing.

They all seem to find comfort and contentment in leaving me with giant wet spots on my blanket. A small price to pay for a relaxed and happy Dobie.
