My family has had Rottweilers ever since I can remember, now we have a Doberman and a Rottweiler but I do know tons of other Dobes besides my own as my friend is a Dobie breeder. Anyway, Rottweilers (atleast the ones I've had and others I know) are very intelligent (but stubborn), athletic, willing to please, energetic dogs. They do have an undercoat though, which is something the Dobe does not have, and they do require regular brushing. The msot common weight I've seen in females is around 75-85lbs and males can be anywhere from 95-155lbs. Big difference compared to the Doberman. Rottweilers aren't as gaurdy as Dobermans are though, they listen and watch for things but they don't appear to be as ready for action as Dobes. Don't get me wrong, they are very protective, just not quite as much as Dobermans. Rottweilers shed tons, due to their undercoat and their longer top coat. Dobermans also shed, but not as much. Rottweilers are being way overbred and so it is hard to find a nicely bred Rottie without health or temperament problems. They are out there though, you jsut have to look hard. Its also rather difficult to find a good Dobie breeder, but not as much so as it is to find a Rottie breeder. Rottweilers don't withstand the heat as well as a Doberman does, but they do a lot better in the winter (that doesn't mean they can stay outside too long though) compared to the Dobe if you live somewhere where you get major seasonal changes. Rottweilers, like Dobermans, are extremely devoted dogs to their owner and/or family. If you have any specific questions about the Rottweiler, I'd be glad to answer them for you but for now, this is all I can think of to tell you about them.
