Doberman "Stalk" w/pics

4762 Views 22 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  VegasDobe
On a different thread, someone talked about Dobermans "stalking" things like cats, dogs, and other Dobermans. Mensa's breeder asked me if any of my other Dobermans did the "stalk". I hadn't heard of it, none of them had "stalked".

Mensa is a "stalker", and here's the proof:

This time the unfortunate one being stalked was Katie. She's a real good sport about it all.

Does anybody else have a "stalker"?

If so, what does your Dobie stalk?

I love how in each pic, her head is just a little bit lower than the previous as she moves in for the "kill"!
Chi is also a stalker - and she's not picking on what she stalks! Leaves, the cat, Petri, a shoe, pretty much any and everything is fair game LOL
Harmony is a stalker too. She mostly stalks out Doodle, but occasionally the cats. Doodle thinks it is a great game so plays along wonderfully. She usually catches him when he is spacing off staring at the sky and notices her when she is close. He gets so excited to start running and waits till just the right second. It's an open invitation to playtime for him.
All mine have been stalkers!!! Gadget loved to stalk me!!! Oh I miss him...
Squirrels. birds, leaves blowing and rolling around on the ground in the fall, and at night on peoples lawns signs that usually say keep off the grass, mind you that is usually stalk and then pounce.
Lexus is definetely a stalker!! She stalks Harley and the cats all the time, I laugh b/c usually whatever she is stalking is staring right at her the whole time! She gets stiff legged, and if her "prey" moves a little, she'll freeze however she is, even if she has a foot in the air and hold it!
Takira is also a stalker. It is usually a bird or rabbit or something in the yard. She will slowly lower her self to the ground and observe and then all of a sudden spring up and pounce. :)

TD
Great pics again Chaz, and yes my three big un's are stalkers it so funny to see them stalking the rabbits over the field then one breaks formation and all hell is let loose.
Duchess stalks...and coco learned to stalk from Duchess lol. one time at the dog park there was another doberman(puppy) and when everyone else left they were the only two there...Duchess and the puppy both played the exact same way...first they saw each other from a distance...then stalked...and walked towards each other...stopped...and then they did a play bow at the same time and then bOOOm ran in circles around the picnic table lol.
Nice Pics! I love Her Crop the Ears are looking Good
All of mine have stalked--exactly WHAT they stalked varied. Two of my best stalker often stalked me if I was out working in the yard.

I'd look up to seeing a Dobe frozen at half height and as soon as they caught my eye they'd charge me and do a quick 90 degree turn just before they collided. The stalkers always thought this was hilarous but they scared the pants off of a PG & E guy who was in the back tracing a line--I thought he'd left and let the puppy out. BIG puppy--8 or 9 months old--the PG & E guy evidently looked up and found this big black Doberman in full stalk mode. He screamed "help!"

I tried not to laugh as I went to retreive the pup--the stalkee was a good sport about it--met the puppy and laughed when he realized how young the pup was and that it was just a game.
Rommel is a stalker too. He and Piper love this game. Look at Mensas ears!!!! They look great Chaz!!! Are they finally done?
Great pics. Out of my 4 Dobies only Suzy is a stalker and I see her stalking Alex and Roxy and an occasional bug or lizard. She has caught 2 mice and one snake but I didn;t see her stalking those.

Speaking of shoes, Apollo is in teething stage, and one of my favorite pairs of sandals is now in shoe heaven LOL. Also, my coffee table...thankfully it's old and we want to get a new one anyways, but where he chewed a put a few droplets of tabasco sauce on it....needless to say he's not chewing there anymore. :)
Mine is a stalker as well... oh crazy Dobermans!
Very cute! I love the stalking behavior as well. They stalk various things, like each other, other dogs, the kitty, toys, and people. It is really funny
BackInBlack,

Thanks for the ear compliments. This weekend was Mensa's first couple days without posts. She's doing pretty good, but she's not through yet. I'm taking her back to get new posts this afternoon.

Like DoberKim says in the ear thread, post them until you think you're done, then post them again.

Wow Chaz, I think those ears are the best looking ones I've seen yet...keep up the great posting! Who ever did them (vet) did a wonderful job as well.
Mensa's Ear Vet is Dr. Jezbera at The Riverside Animal Hospital in Riverside California.

Mensa's Breeder lives 35 miles east of San Diego and she will drive 115 miles (185 km) ONE WAY to take her pups for their cropping. She worries about what she's going to do when Dr. Jezbera retires, he's not exactly a kid anymore, if you know what I mean.

I'm lucky, it's only a 22 mile (35 km) drive for me.
