My first show that I entered Chase in my competitors looked at me and my dog and said ..oh he will win the judge likes bigger dogs?? ..and what happened Chase won winners and got 2 points..:).. I am not sure i understand why judges do this?? could someone explain.

Isn't it a surprise when you think you know what dog the judge is going to pick and it's totally wrong.
I didn't actually know which dog he'd pick..but I thought it would be a black male, probably from South American breeding. Instead, he completely shut out the SA dogs (too big, from what I was told on the phone) and went with a black bitch, American bred and with very good breed type. So it's a surprise..but a good one.

Raisin also earned a bunch of new titles in performance events during the week. She's been retired for about 2-3 years, has had two litters and still looks WONDERFUL I'm told.

Raisin is Ch Blue Chip Purple Rain CDX, NA, BH (I'm sure I've forgotten some of her titles. I had an opportunity to meet both Raisin and her owner Chris Spinello at the National in Mass. in 2002. Really nice bitch and really nice owner.

I was the designated dog sitter for my friend Nancy who runs my dogs in agility and for one of Michelle's puppies while they took my Toad (Foxfire's Gold Toed Monster) off to the National.

So I was very happy with the Toad's performance at the National. He's the first dog I've had at a National since 1996 when a puppy of mine won an enormous 6-9 Black Puppy Dog Futurity class and an even bigger 6-9 regular Black Puppy Dog class.

Liberators Hollywood Park is sired by the litter brother to one of my dogs--Pat Blenkey (Liberator) and I have been congratulating each other all week.

I'll have to send Murreydobe some Toad pictures and make her post them--I'm a moron when it comes to trying to get pictures on the internet and have almost no pictures of him to even try to post.

Congratulations DB! you umust be so proud. You'll have to post up the winners picture so we can all see (and drool).

Murreydobe, thanks for the explanation. I have been trying to find a book that explains all the show stuff, but just haven't found one. That's one of the biggest reasons I came - and stay - on the fourm; I learn so much.

I saw Raisin on one of the Eukanuba shows on animal planet, she had won Best of Class but didn't win the show. she sure is a beauty. and you say she still is after having two litters? (wish I could say the same!LOL)

So here are some pics of Toad, Foxfire's Gold Toed Dragon. Dobebug said these were taken about 6-8 weeks ago. As I remember, they were at either his first or second show.

His pick did not surprise me at all. I've seen Ray judge before and he really does look for a nice standard dog/bitch. He may not personally be breeding for the show ring, but he does seem to know what is what. One of his AOM dogs won breed under him last February at the Garden Specialty - the Niklby bitch handled by Ashley Cuzzolino. Last Feb she won BOB over a lot of big specials that were also entered at Westminster later that week.

I was thrilled to hear that Raisin won - I think she is the TOTAL Doberman that he talks about :)

Oops, that's "Gold Toed Monster" :)
LOL..you're right. Poor Toad is going to be in the midst of that confusion his entire life. There was a Kyjur dog, Puff, Ch. Kyjur's Gold Toed Dragon out and around about 15 years ago, that's what causes the mixups.

I even looked at the name twice to make sure I had it right, and still screwed it up! I think I got it mixed up with the part of the Foxfire line Razzle's sire comes from..Razz's sire is no monster, he's a dragon!

Oh yeah--I'll definitely keep you posted. You can thank chmurrey for posting the pictures--the bottom line (as she knows) is that I have NO intention of learning how to post pictures--she always gets them buried several layers down because I also can't figure out how to extract them.

The pictures from the National are really nice and I'm going to try to get them scanned by one of friends this weekend--I'll send them on to someone to post for me.

Never mind looks like I missed it since I just noticed it was in Sept.
You just missed it by a week.

So where are you in Wyoming? My family owned a cattle ranch in Dubois when I was in high school, and I lived in Laramie for a few years after that. Beautiful state..but way too cold for me.
