* My first topic/post here, go easy on me. ^^; *

Greetings DT! I was originally stalking this site for information and pictures, but after seeing how nice you all are, I decided to make myself known and give a little back if I can.

I love dobermans (of course), and I love drawing. Main reason I look for pictures is for references for I'm still learning how to draw them. Since I have no dobies of my own, I was hoping you owners (and maybe fellow artists), could help me out with some tips of certain characteristics the breeds have. I noticed some things on my own, but I'm sure there's still much to learn as they don't always come out quite right. Also what differences are there between males and females if any (besides the obvious). My style varies and I'd like to draw more realistic dobies (see black and white drawings), as they're the most fun.

I'd also love to make sketches of your dobermans! Since I use already use reference pictures, why not offer free pet sketches?

-

I'm happy to share what I've drawn so far, and I hope you enjoy. 8]
*The first three and last one are supposed to have unevenly docked ears. And the character is supernatural, so that's why green eyes. ;]

First, welcome!

I love your art and your style. Are you a member of any sites like DeviantArt? It would be great to see even more of your stuff (even if it's not doberman related).

It would be awesome if you used my boy, Dreizehn, for a drawing. I always love seeing other people's take on him.

@ Sam: Aww why thank you very much! ^^

My favorite poses are action poses, but if you have any favorites I'd love to see them (if it's not all thousand of them, lol). 8]

@ Patch: Wow you guys are fast. And thank you very much for the welcome and compliment! I do indeed have a DA account: http://kigerwolfrd.deviantart.com/

Gorgeous boy! I'd love to draw him! 8D

It's interesting to see the cropped ears yet natural tail on your character. You RARELY see that in this breed (you see it a lot in Beaucerons, however) but instead see natural ears with docked tails much more often. It's an interesting look with the short-haired doberman. My only critidue is that a doberman tail is less "furry" for lack of a better term. Yours look lab-like (or even like a rottie tail) and dobes have a more whip-like tail (think pitbull) since their hair is short.

@ Sam: Thanks! I shall! I already picked out a few that I really like. And the hoodie oh my gosh too cute! ouo

@ Patch: Thank you very much! I've had to use combined refs for the ears and tail as I never see that myself. But I really like the cropped ears look and natural tail, so it's worth the extra effort of looking up multiple refs.
Adding fluff is a habit after drawing almost nothing but wolves for years. I'll have to keep an eye out for that, thanks for the tip. 8]

I couldn't post a direct link because my albums are set to Private, but you are more than welcome to draw Levi in any of these pictures. The one of him and Tucker is great. If you choose to draw Levi in the other pictures, it would be nice if you'd just remove the background crap so it's just him. Have fun! I can't wait to see what you produce. You've got some pretty handsome models here!

Wow, I really love your style. Nice work!

The only comment I was going to make was the same as PWR on the tails, but it sort of looks cool that way for your character. I wasn't sure if you did that on purpose for whatever reason.

Oh, and if you want to use the handsomest red boy I've ever seen as the subject of any of your pieces, I have more than plenty of pictures of Rowan. ;)

The first thing I noticed was the natural tail and cropped ears, I also instantly thought of a Beauceron. I think dobie tails are like dane tails, very whip like. Your art is amazing though!

My girl has natural ears, but here are a couple of pictures if you decide to try a dobie with natural ears. :)

She's very active though, so action shots are not a problem.

here are a few photos of my brats... they aren't the best photos, but they might be fun to draw:

We have quite a few members with natural dobes, hopefully one will chime in with some pictures you can use for reference on the tails.

Haha her rocky hoodie as we call it, she loves that one!
