When I'm looking up a dog on Dobequest and see:

What exactly does that mean? That she was tested in 2010 and no problems with her heart were found?

That means she was dna tested for one gene that's linked to DCM, that test result was negative. It's already been proven that there's more than one gene which can cause this disease, as quite a few dogs owned by people right on this board tested negative, and were diagnosed with DCM.

The WSU is Washington State University, which is the facility the developer of the dna test was working from at that time-she's now in North Carolina.

BTW-you may see the same test referred to as the Meurs test or the PDK4 test, too. Dr. Meurs is the researcher who located the gene and developed the test. PDK4 is the name of that particular gene.

Confusing, but no one has come up with a constant in terms of what this test is called.

Thanks a lot Murrey. I'm trying to learn as much as possible so when we're ready to get a pup, I'm prepared!
