In Australia ear cropping and tail docking are banned. Ear cropping has been for years, tails nearly two years.

Two years ago I tried a number of breeders to gain a prized pooch, my reply was "now we can not dock tails we are no longer breeding".

Dobes are not a really popular dog here and the only colours I have ever seen are black and red....

More is the pity, the world needs more dobes.

Yep - my Dobe had floppy ears and OMG a tail. I have been asked would I change it? Nah - at first because I had a vision of the perfect dobe. Now I am use to it and really dont care.

I love the look of your dobes in the US - so sleek and cool. But law is law here and to continue on educating people on what great dogs they and to develop the breed so what.

Well..I don't know that i can agree with you about that. This is a breed that doesn't succeed in a wide variety of pet homes, they pretty much demand homes with above average leadership and training skills.

And considering at any given moment there are THOUSANDS of homeless dobermans sitting in rescues and shelters in this country, I think we have way more dobermans than could possibly ever be re-homed. The world just doesn't need that many more dobermans.

There is a male 6 month old doberman with cropped ears that looks just like my Kaiser in the local animal shelter. I hope someone adopts it. I would if I had the money and space for him.

Agree or disagree.....

If you are of good character you can handle a dobe....there are heaps breeds of dogs in rescues all over the world. It's a shame that fools take on dogs without research in how big they get, what the need fed, how much exercise they need. Vet costs. Time of training.

Ok - the world needs more dilegent dobe owners.....what I want in my country are more breeders to make sure I can get a well bred one.

If someone will fly him to Australia I will have him....
We are heading the same way here in the U.K. we all expect tail docking to be banned soon and we have never allowed ear crops, and what i find most upsetting is I have heard people who have been in the breed a long time say they will not have an undocked dog :(
