Dexter broke my nose!

2139 Views 36 Replies 29 Participants Last post by  CoDobe
I made the mistake of intervening when Dex and Kaleesi were in a tussle over a toy.

I lost.

Dex clocked me with his huge t Rex noggin and I saw stars, heard the sickening crunch.

Swollen, painful, and now I hate dogs. Mine in particular.

Gracie's busted my lip with the back of her skull a couple of times.

A Doberman skull in motion is a powerful blunt object! :)

Dex has bonked all of us in the family, and every single time, he's oblivious.

Huh, what? Duh. I'm fine. Throw the toy.

Kaiser's given me more than a few bloody lips, but I have strong bones, so no broken nose. :)

I, too have had several DRIs (Doberman Related Injuries) from my Dexter.

There was one week that I swear my coworkers were going to call the cops - bruises under my eye, on my arms, on my legs. All from Dexter's various flailing body parts. Thankfully, no broken nose...um, yet.

I hope your nose feels better soon!

LOL! I think every dog list I am on has had periodic threads about dog inflicted injuries... noses are frequent victims of accidents. I have had a couple of spectacular goose-eggs from forehead-to-forehead impacts, an amazing black eye, a giant fat lip and a minor leg fracture from two different impacts on consecutive days (a pointer head at 1000 MPH followed by a spinning Doberman ass). I have not (yet!) had a nose broken by a dog or a knocked out tooth or a tooth put through a lip... I have had a broken nose that took forever to heal because it kept getting bumped by Doberman heads (just a caution... protect yourself!).

Welcome to the injured list!

OUCH....they are oblivious to their strength. Feel better soon. The only person Beckham is careful around is my three year old grandson. Thank God for that.

I WILL take a picture, as it becomes a little more colorful. I'm just now seeing the red bruise look coming on my left eye area. I can't tell yet if it's going to be crooked, it's too swollen.

My dear departed Loki knocked me over a few times in his exuberance of playing with my sons and running by. But he sort of would back off and let me pick up toys. We usually make Dexter "sit" and stay before we pick up whatever it is we're throwing.

In this case, he and Kaleesi the 4 mo. old were playing a little game of tug of war, and since Kaleesi is teething, I wanted to divert attention. Her breeder cautioned me against playing tug with her while she is teething, as she is right now.

Dex has absolutley no clue of his size and strength! He thinks he's a lap puppy, loves to plant his head on my shoulder or in my lap and if there's collateral damage, so be it.

Ouch. Sorry he got you. Right now I look like an abused drug addict from all the bruises and puncture marks on my hands and arms from my puppy.

Black eye (broken glasses--$400), sprained ankle (hobbling around 2 months), broken front tooth (can't remember amount of repair bill)--welcome to the club.

Sorry this happened to you! It was just a matter of time to happen on this board. I'm sure you're in good company.

I've come very close to this myself w/our girl. She's clocked us all at one time or another & me several times once to the point of tears. (once she started a lymph node infection in my neck after hammering me under the jaw!)

We should start a club of some sort ;)

I thought that too after I read her post, you beat me to it.
Maybe there should be and injury thread with the injured posing with the guilty (or should I say clumsy) party. I've got a giant bruise and scratch on the inside of my knee from Oliver jumping on me at 40 mph when I was laying on the bed. He landed on me and had that look like "What?" "Why are you moaning?"

Ouch! I'm sorry :(

My fiance wants me to wear my glasses more often (instead of my contact lenses), but I feel it's just a face crunch waiting to happen. I've had varying bloody lips from Elka's noggin, she almost broke my jaw once, and I've had near misses with my nose, and with teeth. These dogs are hazardous!

Hubby once had such a bloody hurting nose after playing that he considered going to a doctor. Well, it was not necessary but I remember that we both were not sure what happens if you tell the doctor that a dog caused this, if they call animal control even if this kind of bruise is caused by playing. So we said we would not tell where the bloody nose came from.

My husband says he's glad that hes out of town, so that no one would blame him!

I won't go to the doc unless the nose shows real dislocation (after the swelling goes down in a few days).

So sorry about your nose! Hoping for a speedy recovery. DH has gotten scratched by nails and scratched by teeth by previous Dobes. I try to stay very clear of Baron's head with my face. Have a lot of money invested in my teeth!
