I got my baby slices ears done. But the vet that did them charges for retapes and I lost my job a few weeks after she is four months old and has been untaped for three weeks I had to buy pup food instead so I've excepted that I completely wasted my money cropping her ears and I will love her no matter what.

It is actually very easy to do it yourself! Let me see if I can find you a tutorial..

There's a photo tutorial. To make it a little easier, you don't always have to wrap the posts in duct tape first, and personally I don't make "bumpers" for the posts either. I just back-tape the posts with Coach's tape (easier to find than Zonas tape, you can get Johnson and Johnson Coach's tape at Walmart) and then just put the post in the ear and tape around it.

Great!!!! You are not that far from me. Actually Ziggy's breeder lives near Bastrop off Hwy 21. She may be able to help you, and if not, I most likely can. I know she has been very busy since she had to evacuate her home during the Bastrop fires. I'll PM you.

You can do it yourself, and it's not too late! Hopefully you can meet up with Jenny or her breeder and they can show you how to do it.

I hope that with help you get some good results, at 4 months it doesnt seem too late to get the ears to stand, she still has alot of growing to do, and my girls were cropped at 12 weeks, and still in posts at the same age so it is likely if you get them up and just be patient and keep them posted for a little while you can get them to stand. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.

Hi,

Did you get help from anyone? If not, post a photo so we can see how long her ears are and maybe I can put together some posts along with tape and mail to you. You can pm me your mailing address. I don't think it's too late to post her ears. Here is a link to the tape I purchase. Also, if you go to a local hardware store, they should have the 3/8" or 1/2" insulation/backer rod. Or, you could use the cardboard off the hangers from a local cleaners, you could use Tampax, or even tightly rolled paper towels.

Don't worry. Do it a couple of times, you'll probably screw up just like we all did. Don't get frustrated but keep redoing it. Post here if you have problems.

I give my pup good treats when we are doing ears. Sometimes I have to practically sit on her but we get it. Other times if she is laying on the sofa and slightly tuckered, I will post while she is drowsy. Believe it or not we get the rods in evenly like that as well.

Will your vet show you one time how to post?
