So my wife and I take my son, dobie, boston for a walk today. I have benn walking Kane (dobie) for about 3 - 4 weeks now by himself. I have been using a prong collar and the walks have been going well and he is generally behaved.

Well during todays attempt Kane went crazy (sort of). My wife was walking him first in front and beside us. After about 10 minutes he started whining and acting very edgy (meaning he moved in sharp quick movements and seemed to not know which way to go constantly moving his head side to side). A few barks started to arise and my wife didn't like the way he was acting so asked me to take over. He started progressing in his behavouir and then adding jumping and biting his leash. i sat him down and try to see if a few minutes of everyone stopped and calm would sove the problem. It did not. I tried waling in front/behind/beside and nothing stopped his behaviour. I thought that maybe his pinch collar was causing a problem so took it off and tried his flat collar and wow, he pulled so hard he was pulling me (I have never felt him pull like this!). Back the prong collar went.

I then took him on an extended walk with just the two of us and for the first 10 minutes he still whinned and acted a little on edge (The jumping and biting stopped). A few more minutes of whining and then by the end he had stopped.

When we got back home he came in and was pacing around the house and checking out everything at a high energy level. Now he has voluntarily went in his crate and sleeping.

Any ideas on this? I did not know what even to do in attempt to make him stop the behaviour. Was it the other people and dog in our party? Was it a new leash I just used for the first time? (doubt it but you never know).

Thanks for any ideas/suggestions

The first thing I think of is some kind of partial seizure :( But I'm not a vet.

Let's hope he wakes up perfectly normal--if you can't find an obvious reason like discomfort of some sort, or other dogs he is responding to, I think I'd head for the vet--especially if it happens again.

How old is he?
