Corpus Christi, Tx: Horrific abuse case. Donations needed for vet bills

1438 Views 14 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  sam&macksmom
Lucky Lucy was abandoned in a parking lot. A Good Samaritan called Dobie Haven and they responded immediately and got her to safety. She couldn't walk, and could barely crawl. The injuries to her back looks like acid burns.

>>Warning<<, graphic photographs: Lucky Lucy in Corpus Christi

As you can imagine, the vet bill is staggeringly high.

Your tax-deductible donation can help defray some of the cost of getting this DoberGirl back to health. Please contact Dobie Haven for more info on how you can help Lucky Lucy and other Dobermans in need:

OMG...hang the people that did this.

Wait a minute - I just saw that these photos were taken June 21, 2011. So this is a case that is more than 4 months old? I think people need to find out more details.

If you look at the flicker photo, it says June 21. Then if you click on South Central Dobes and get their photostream, you get the photo uploaded Oct 27...which to me might mean they have 'borrowed' this photo. It makes me suspicious as to whether someone 'just' found the dog yesterday.

KenyaARaineCD, can you confirm the info? thanks.

I noticed the same thing too...regardless of when the photos were taken however, how is Lucy? What is her current status?

Poor little baby :: what she had to endure. :(

Lucy was found 3 days ago. The photos are dated "June 21" because the camera's date was incorrect.

"South-Central Dobes" is my account, and I uploaded the photos as soon as I got permission from rescue to use the pix in my photostream.

Hope this clears up the mismatched dates issue.:wavey:

Any word on Lucy? Did the parking lot have surveillance cameras? I would hope somebody would pursue this case if they did.

Someone who is in a position to know told me that the local agency(ies) charged with investigating animal cruelty in that area is/are unlikely to take action in this instance. :(

WHY? Why is it unlikely that they will take action in this case? What is wrong with your animal cruelty people?
I tell you this, if I could get my hands on the folk that did that to that poor mite I would let them feel for themselves what it's like to be abused.

:sorry: for the rant but such people make my blood boil and for the authorities to do nothing to the people responsible is just wrong.

Wishing her a swift recovery and a loving home to follow soon.

That's horrible. I hope she gets getter & finds a good home. It's so wrong that they won't try to find who did this. . . :(

...What is wrong with your animal cruelty [investigators]?{snip}
Just to clarify, Lucy was abandoned in Corpus Christi and I am in San Antonio. I
can't speak for Corpus agencies, but I know that in this major metropolitan area, funding for animal-related agencies is very tight. And in this economy, everyone is looking for places to trim the City's operating budget. Sure, our city could have a no-kill shelter, but no one wants the increase in sales tax and "user fees" needed to fund a no-kill shelter. :(

[soapbox]As long as people insist on acting upon their right to produce companion animals for profit (even though the market is saturated), animals will be seen as so easy to replace, they are virtually disposable. And dogs like Lucy will suffer for it. [/soapbox]
Do you have a link/contact info for the local agency in charge of animal cruelty cases?
