Anyone bred or had a dobe with this in very very minor form whereby only the two front teeth had a gap (didnt fuse close) but nothing was wrong elsewhere (in the nose etc).
1. Did the gap ever close?
2. Did you diagnose it when did the dog was young i.e 8 weeks/ did your vet diagnose?
As some of you may know my first "show dog" Effy developed a gap between her teeth when her adult teeth came through. Her teeth were fine as an 8 week old and her mouth looked fine to both 2 different breeders and a vet (not a specialist vet btw).
At six months she just had a gap I took her to my specialist vet and he said she had the most minor cleft palate ever..I didn't continue showing this bitch as a couple of Judges had said it looked like she was missing a tooth on inspection of her mouth, this along with a girl that was very slow to mature saw her leave the ring.
The gap has been getting smaller and smaller lately, do you think it would be wrong if I tried to title her if the gap closed up (wishful thinking that it does close)? Also.. I would just like to hear your experiences with this condition because it went undetected by three knowledgeable people and I wanted to know how common it was.
Thanks
