I posted some time ago that my 9 year old female, Chessie was diagnosed with Chronic Active Hepatitis. I just wanted to let everyone know she is doing much better. Her ALT at first test was around 1200, her recheck was 735 and this past week her retest was 212, under 100 is normal. With all the meds she is on, the vet is pleased she is responding, we are on the right track. We have cut her back on some meds and will be retesting in about 5 weeks with the hopes of cutting back on more providing she is still responding.
Her energy and wanting to play has also come back which is a great sign. She was on a high does of Prednisone at first and that seemed to change her attitude a bit. She is slowly returning to her old self.
Thanks for all your support, just wanted to keep you updated
Thank you all for your kind words. We are so thrilled that she is doing so well. Chessie is currently on Actigall (Urso) twice a day, Prednisone (a steroid) every other day, Milk thistle twice a day, Zentinol daily and Hills L/D diet, that is just for the CAH. She is also on Soloxine, Synovi MSM and PPA (for leaking urine). Thank goodness for pill pockets, one large can hold all her pills, down in one shot!!!
I am feeling like a small pharmacy. Riggs, my male has allergies and was just started on Temeral-P and antibiotic along with Soloxine and Vit C; and my little Kylee is on two pills and Benebac for diarrhea, bacteria issues. God forbid if my husband would have to feed them. I do have a "laundry list" of who gets what, but sometimes I have to stop and think LOL.
I also forgot to say that a full sister to Chessie also has CAH. She was diag at age 5 and is still going strong at age 11-12.
Did you know that Dr Fosters and Smith can combine medications? I just read this the other day....... I'm thinking about doing it for rommels thyroid meds.
They will combine the meds (all of them) then add a flavoring and make it into like a chewable! I use pill pockets too, but that would be so much easier.
Just thought you might like to know Glad your seeing improvements!
