Place the bumpers against the skull directly opposite each other. Be sure to pull the ear up, up, up onto the post, tape, and then release tension on ear. Dont release tension till AFTER you have placed the tape or the ear will slip down on the post causing the post to lean inward, which is what creates pockets. Bumpers are supposed to prevent the ears from leaning inward over the top of the head, but if you post correctly, you wont need them. Dont use the 5/8 size backer rod till 6 months or a little older. Also, trim the tip that goes into the ear, with scissors, like a really dull pencil, so the post fits into the ear better. Best wishes!
Thanks! Whew...that's where I've been putting the bumpers since it made sense due to the location where pockets form. But it was a little hard to tell from the pics posted in the posting tutorial so I wanted to be 100% sure.
