Finely got to try out the scooter drove it around on the drive way, backyard went in to get Buddy he took off popped the back door open the scooter was by the house the gate was open.Buddy ran out onto the drive way with a toy in his mouth stopped right before the street by that time I made it to the gate I yelled Buddy come he came trotting back to me boy did he get praised sure scared me though.Buddy really likes the scooter except if I back it up it beeps he was looking for the beep.We stayed on the drive way just had to try it out with him of course we need to practice more.Think next time I take him out of his crate will shut the bedroom door that way he cannot give me more Grey hair.

Scooter did great I think Buddy wanted to go faster but going to take it easy for a long while till his growth plates are closed which should be this fall. Then with the cooler weather we can try fast.Tulsa has high Humidity and next week will be in the 90's so need to just walk him due to that anyway. I have a picture of a turtle and a rabbit on the scooter so going to go in the middle for now.Sure was fun to be out though I really liked it I think Buddy will too just not sure about going past dogs yet so will have to be carefully Buddy does not try to pull too hard in going past other dogs.

Sounds like you are doing great....nice that your boy comes when called. Also really wonderful you have a fenced yard. My 4 stupid sons and hubby constantly let Petey outside without a leash, and we live on a road that cars fly down. They were all used to my Weimaraners, one had the shock collar on for our electric fence and the other never left my side, let alone leave our yard. Petey thinks it is great fun to let everyone chase him once he is out. I'm about to take my dog and MOVE OUT to a remote area if they don't stop making me get gray hairs!!!! Yesterday we were having a new driveway put in and I was at the back of our house, and one of the guys who was working starts calling hey doggie...I look over and stupid son #2 was walking near Petey...said someone else left the door open(I gave him the I'm going to kill you look!) I called Petey...he actually came right to me through 5 workers! I think he was nervous about them and wanted to get to mom. Several of the guys were terrified of Petey!!! I said to them....he is just a puppy...they didn't believe me because of his size! Only one guy came up and had to pet him...he owns Pit Bulls. Now that our driveway is in, hopefully we can get the electric fence on again and get Petey trained. What I'd really like to do is put an electric collar on each of my sons and hubby and shock them every time they leave the doors open....maybe then they would learn!

Keep getting out there...this is so great for you!

Glad to hear that the scooter is working out.

I think every wife/mom on the forum will applaud your suggestion of shock collars for sons and/or husbands (sorry guys). Two lots over is a road that can get busy during peak hours and I am terrified of Java getting out, chasing a deer and getting hit. And yet hubby can be very cavalier about letting Java off-leash, esp since we don't have invisible fencing in the front (yet). She has been very good about staying when I open a door - will sit and not push past me to go out and is pretty good about coming when called, but that doesn't mean I trust her not to take off after a deer or fox.
