Buddy did something odd today

I have been sick with the crud for about a week & a half so the fur kids have not had much mom time.Today decided I would take them in the car going to post office get gas and a few other places. Went to the back of the car everyone excited about going in the car. My car you have to raise the glass then open the back door Buddy jumped as if he was getting in the car and I had not even opened the door yet he fell backwards onto the driveway. I looked him over opened the back door and with a little encouragement he jumped into the car. He seems fine now second guessing on if his sight is OK, or just wondered if he was just too excited to pay attention to what was going on.
Patches Mom, any one else have this happen ?

Awww, poor Buddy. I can imagine his confusion. Huh, what just happened here. Unless he starts doing things like this often I would just think it was a case of overexcitement, going somewhere with mom.

Well, I've walked into a lamppost without seeing it before...........

And Capri, sitting in the car on our driveway with a distracted DH, actually jumped OUT the open window to chase a deer in the yard (everyone is fine, though DH got an earful from me).........

But I've not had one crash into the door yet........soon, I imagine.......

(Added--sorry if my answer was too light; I would be worried too, to see one of my dogs do what you describe. Hope you find an answer soon.)

That would worry me a bit, too. My first guess would be overexcitement. I've had mine do some pretty dumb things from overexcitement before. You could try putting some furniture out so he has to walk around them and see how he maneuvers around them to check his sight.

Gus has done something like this before. I have an SUV and normally he has no problem getting into it but on days where he's really excited (or really tired) he seems to misgauge the height of the seat and kind of get stuck midway before falling off and out of the car.
