I've had a couple diffrent breeds before mine now. I grew up with labs,my parents bred them before I was born. We had a golden retriever mix but it had been abused pretty badly and wasn't much of a dog if that makes any sence. he was like a cat:) We found him in a snow bank almost dead and he'd only ever come to my dad after he got better. I know thats not how goldens are but thats all I think of when I see one now.

We have Sam who is a mixed breed, he'll be 10 this year, a friend says he looks like Rod Stewart, I personally don't see it. And we also have Sydney who is a Ragdoll, (yes a cat!) She is a mitted girl and is almost four years old.

You have some lovely dogs out there, great pics. JennSLK, I would love to know what a 'Dutch Shepherd'is, I know what a Belgian Shepherd is and of course a GSD but have never heard of a Dutch Shepherd - unless it is another name for something. I would love to see a pic if you have one.:emo8:

Here's a MUCH better discription of it. http://members.atlantic.net/~vcristel/adsc.htm

It's not AKC or CanKC reconised but thats OK. I want to get into Sch.
Nice looking dogs, although I have owned dogs for the last 30 years, 20+ of which I have owned Dobes, I don't think I am experienced enough for one of these dogs. It would seem that they have a very high work drive and would need very experienced handling. I would imagine, in the wrong hands, they could be quite dangerous.

This is the first time I have heard of a Dutch Shepherd.

They can be very dangerous. Wich is why I am going to be volentering at the local Sch club for a while and also work VERY closely with the breeder.

There is a real selection of dogs out there. Pictures anyone?

Sorry you lost your dog Flash. I know how you feel, I have lost seven over the years and it doesn't get any easier. The last one was Kata, my daughters 15 yr old GSP. We lost him on 20 Feb this year. He was a rescue dog that my daughter took on when he was 13 yrs old. He was a gem.

Any piccys of your min pin, V&R?

Harley is an Aussie from a rescue, totally the result of bad breeding, but we love the bat-earred numbskull anyway ;) approx. 7 years old.

Scrappy was my husband's dog before I met him, she is a boxer/mutt and 8 years old this fall.

And three cats, all rescues/ or take-ins of various sorts, oldest is Keli at 9 years, Bandit at 8 years, and Jinxy at about 6 years.

And of course Lexus, the only one from a breeder.
