I know there have been many many questions about the "normal size" of a Doberman. So I just want to get some feedback on how you think she looks. I have taken Keila to the vet, she is up to date on all of her shots and the vet said that she is at a healthy weight and size. However, My friend has a litter mate of my dog, and she is huge. Keila weighs 53 lbs, Shautzi (keils sister) weighs 94 lbs. Same mother and father.Same LITTER! But such a huge size difference. I am going to post a few pics of both dogs so you can see the size difference. Is my dog an abnormal size? Or does she look too thin?

I agree. Keila looks really good. Shautzi looks like she could stand to lose a LOT of weight.

God I hate to see an overweight Doberman. It just goes against everything about the breed.

How tall are your dog and her sister? Your dog looks fine. Her sister looks overweight.

Some litters are more consistent in size than others. Also, it's not unheard of for there to be a little one. Mine at 2 yrs is 25" and 54lbs and small boned. I think her sisters are at least 10lbs more than her.

Poor Shautzi is massively overweight. If you can (gently) help your friend to see that, it would be to Shautzi's benefit. Your girl looks great.

I'm surprised she didn't get pano, or other growth problems. An 8month old pup should NEVER be that overweight. I prefer to see some rib and a definite tuck. I see joint and organ problems in the near future of that pup if she stays the weight she is at right now.

Your pup looks to be a healthy weight.

Both dogs are 14 months old. Not sure why it says 8 months under her picture. We took Keila by the vet today and she is 25 1/2 at withers, and weighs 63.4 lbs.

She's great. Keep her at that weight!

Shautzi looks like a dobe that gets NO exercise, maybe eats a very poor food, and/or has a medical issue (i'd agree with a thyroid check if you can suggest it)... My 17 month old bitch is now 64lbs, and has been for about 6 months, though she fluctuated a little coming into summer. I wouldn't be suprised if yours picked up a little muscle weight as she matures, but she looks about right...
There was a thread a while back about how much female dobes weighs:

I HATE fat dobes, especially when its the owners fault.....

I would agree with the others in the fact that Shautzi looks like she ate one too many cookies, but your dog looks and sounds lovely to me! I always feel the need to see a Dobe with a "waist", or a little tuck in there :)
