PLEASE don't breed that dog!! He's either a Dobermann, or a Doberman Pinscher. He's not both. Sounds like he is a diluted Pinscher and will make a great family dog, but not one to carry correct conformation and breed standards for either.

It's the same breed, just different names in different countries.

The white patch while not permitted in FCI, exists in the breeding. It didn't spontaneously appear in US bloodlines and some of the earliest founding ancestors had both white patches on the chest and white toes. In Europe such a dog would be disqualified from breeding but the genes are quirky and often can hide. Using dye, plucking, shaving or even surgery to hide the white hairs is not uncommon. Back in the old day they often hard-culled as well. They'll be more prevalent in working lines than in european show lines but they do occur there and european showlines do carry the gene which is generally recessive.
