Wow, it has been crazy this morning! I need the tranqulizers! They won't stop trying to scratch. I was going to take the Elizabethen collors off for a bit. But I don't dare to. Is there anything I can do to safly releave there itching? I have some Hydrocortizone spray. And a few pads as well. But I don't know about on open wounds.

I feel so bad for them. I was up all night with them they were shaking all night. I think the vets office kept it really warm there and it was a bit chilly here last night. Stupid log cabin I have is not insulated very well. Rayna refuses to sleep in a crate. So she was with daddy under the blankets. But would'nt you know that man don't notice a thing! When he's out he's OUT! I on the other hand was up all night tending to them. Rayna kept getting her stupid E collar stuck while she was under the blankets. In and out all night long. She was really thirsty. I need sleep I think. Anyone up for dobe sitting?

Men sleep through everything. I swear, when Bumps was a puppy he would howl, cry, whatever, my boyfriend slept through it all. I was up half the night....annoying, huh? LOL. My suggestion? Xanax or valium for yourself :).

Kidding. Hang in there.

Oh, and I will find the articles tonight that I have on head bobbing and see if I can find anything that you don't already have. I think I jinxed myself when I wrote to you about it not occuring in months, because he had another episode last night when he woke up, after months of nothing :(

Lana is correct. I would definatly take a half of a Xanax. The pups can't help it and there isn't much you can do. Aside from the itchies, there is something on their ears that is forgien and some silly thing on their neck to keep them from scratching at it.

What can you do? Well I am serious about the Xanax. Best thing since sliced bread and I think all teenagers should come with a 10 year supply. Now once you have calmed down a bit, take out the camera and get some good photos to remember this. It doesn't last long and in 5 years you will wonder why you were so frantic. Talk to the VET about some Benadryl. This will help the pups to sleep and calm down too. Plus the fact that they are probably feeding off of your anxiety. And last comfort them a bit but not too much. They will play it up like any kid would.

Best of luck and keep coming back to DT for yopur support.

Ok, I could not take it anymore. The stiches where looking gross. They had lint all it them and looked yucky. So, I cleaned them up a bit. I used Rubbing alcohol diluted in a lot of warm water. Then I dabbed theirs ears with a paper towel dipped in it. I tried to get some of the falling scabs to come off. One of Rowens ear tips started to bleed again, because it came away from the glue. I think she moved just right. After cleaning, I tried to get some Neosporin on them. I also cleaned their Elizabethen collars too. I can't wait for those stupid thing to come off. Is there anything else I can do? Is using diluted Rubbing Alcohol ok? Or maybe peroxcide instead?

Use a triple antibiotic gel like neosporin and just slather some on the cut edges every day. The scabs look nasty but they will fall off soon.

I would NOT use rubbing alcohol. Not only does it sting, it's way too drying. Just use plain water. I use a warm wet washcloth to hold against the ears until the scabs soften enough to come off easily. One the cut edge is completely clean I let it just air dry for a while then put triple antibiotic ointment on.

I had not thought about it as it has been a long time for us since we dealt with a crop, but Julie is right. Even diluted it can still sting. We use to use hydrogen peroxide. It would foam pretty good on the scabs and soften then so they were not as itchy. It also kept the stitches soft and was easier to remove.

I feel for you Mandy
