To earn an AKC championship, a dog has to win 15 points, with two major wins under two different judges. A major is a win of 3 points or better (with 5 points being the maximum a dog can win on any given day).

The number of points available on any given show day is determined by the number of dogs of each sex entered and shown that day. So a 3 point win means the dog defeated far more dogs than for a 1 point win.

Only 2 dogs earn points towards a championship each day, the non champion male and female the judge determines come closest to the standard.

The AKC issues a point schedule for each breed every May. This tells you how many dogs (or bitches) you have to defeat to win "x" number of points.
The point system is calculated by region and by the number of dogs of that breed being shown in the last 3 years.

The only problem (for her) would be the weather. Although she was born in Alaska, she's become a California girl through and through-and that means she doesn't "do" rain in a great big way!

Her original handler (Andy Linton) lives in WA, I live in southern Ca. He won't be coming to this area (or anywhere within a 2 day drive for me) for quite some time.
