My 3 year old Hugo has a tumor on his leg. Discovered the 1cm diameter lump the other day and the vet today said it is a tumor. Getting it removed on tuesday. Has anyone else experienced this before? Was in cancerous? Did more occur later in life after first one was removed? Any idea what causes this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached a picture of the tumor. It is roughly 1.5 cm wide and sticks out about the same. The vet was positive it was a tumor as soon as she saw it, but could not say or guess which kind. It is a very hard mass. No needle biopsy was performed as her recommendation was to remove it asap in case it got larger over time. If that happened it could become difficult to stitch up after removal with the limited amount of skin on his leg. I also googled this for countless hours and all of the recommendations I found were to remove leg masses asap.

He has had this tumor roughly a week now. Last night he started to chew on it and it started to bleed. Tuesday can not come fast enough. Once it is removed we are having it sent away for testing. No idea how long that will take.
