Calling all CO dobielovers!

Just wanted to see if there were any CO dobielovers out there. I know I've talked to a couple, but this is a great place to have a central discussion.

Hope to hear from you!

Melbrod from Colorado Springs. I know there are a couple of us down here, but I don't know their names in their REAL life.
We have a two year old red Dobe. He is our third Dobe (one at a time).

HI! I'm in CO. Right outside of Colorado Springs. I have 2 Dobes. Both are around 2 - 2 1/2 years old. One iss a male that I adopted from the Doberman Rescue of NM and the other is a female that I fostered for the CO Doberman Rescue and then adopted. Their names are Zip and Desi.

Colorado Springs, here! I'm Lauren, and my girls names are London, Sadie, and Julie. Julie is actually a dachshund, but don't tell her.

I had no idea there were regional threads until now.

Any thoughts to getting together for a picnic or play-dates with our dogs? I'm in Castle Rock, and it looks like we have a few members in Co Springs.....

Just a thought! Nice to see so many CO people here!

Cheers!

That's a great idea!!! I'd love to plan something like that. I've been trying to get together with Claudia to meet up and go to a show for how many weeks now?

Let's plan something!

So, i guess the million dollar question is where/when? I've never done one of these before, so I don't know how "fancy" these should be - thoughts or opinions? I'm not a fan of dog parks but some place where we could all meet up and let the dogs run (mine would still be on a leash though - can't quite let her off leash yet).

I'm open to anything - just let me know!

What about Garden of the Gods? The dogs would have to be on leashes, but it would be a neat place to get out and walk around with them, look at some nice scenery, good photo ops, and there should be places for all of us to sit and talk.

I think that's a great idea!

I personally have never been there (i've lived here 10 years - go figure) and I think it would be fun!

As far as timing goes, it would have to be in a couple of weeks as we're dogsitting a German Shepard for a friend for the next 10 days and it would be too chaotic to bring him and I would hate to leave him home in a kennel.

Anybody else takers??

The only days I know for sure don't work for me are Saturday, May 17, and Memorial Day weekend (my hubby and I are doing a first anniversary get-away that weekend).

Lauren - when were you married? My husband and I were married 5/19/07 and we're leaving over Memorial Day weekend to celebrate our one-year as well.

Going anywhere fun? Congrats!

We were married 5/5/07 - CINCO DE MAYO! Haha. We are going to try to go up to Estes Park if we can find a cabin that allows dogs that isn't a total crap-hole! And they all seem to be booked already for Memorial Day weekend.

Check out <estespark.us/EP-Lodging-Pet-Friendly-Lodging.HTML>. We were just up there for our thirtieth anniversary and stayed along the Fall River, but I don't think that particular place allowed pets, and anyway, for that particular occasion, our guy was NOT invited!!

If all us CO dobies can get together a big enough group, it might be fun to see if we could reserve a picnic pavilion (if they're free or low cost???) somewhere like Black Forest Regional Park--north side of town (CS) off highway 83 on Shoup Road. Looks like a lot of you are from north of here, but I don't know your areas well enough to suggest anywhere closer to you.

Melbrod - i like the idea of a picnic. Black Forest is not far from me at all - probably about 15-20 minutes, which is less than my commute to work!

May 3 will not work for me as I'm doing the Furry Scurry for the DDFL, and I'm out of town 5/22 - 5/26. Maybe we could look at 5/10 or sometime in June?

Anybody else besides Colorado Dobes & Melbrod interested?? Would love to meet everybody!

I'm interested!! I think all of us meeting would be great! Oh, I'd also like let everyone know about the pet expo that is coming up on April 19th and 20th. (incase you haven't heard about it). Welcome to PetColorado.com
Colorado Doberman Rescue is going to have a booth set up there. Stop by and say hi if you can. I believe it's space number 1007. I'm hoping on going there on the 19th if everything works out as planned.
