Male Dobe?

My husband are longtime Dobe owners in Gainesville, Florida, and are interested in purchasing a male black and tan Doberman to join our family and play with our four-year-old female Doberman. (Our male passed away a year ago of cancer at the age of ten.) We will not be breeding our new friend. He will be an inside family pet with constant access to ten fenced acres to play in. We have excellent vet references. We are open to any age from a puppy to a rehomed older pet (up to four years old). We are willing to wait for the right pet, a good quality dog who will be a friendly family pet. Please let me know if you anticipate having any puppies available in the near future, know of adult Dobes in need of a terrific home, or can refer me to a reputable breeder. Thanks!

Hi Amirin, have you tried contacting the local chapter of the DPCA for a breeder referral? The DPCA | Chapter Clubs

Hello I reside in St. Petersburg Florida and purchased from Charismatic Dobermans
Hoss is now 2 years old and a wonderful dog. Also I was very please with Mr. and Mrs. Volta they till this very day assist with questions.
Check out their website.
McAlphin, Florida ...real close to your area.

To my knowledge, Charismatic does not show, correct? Do they title in any sort of sport?

What sort of health testing do they do? I see zero heart testing, which is...very, very problematic.

I would not recommend this breeder.

Charismatic has been discussed here a few times and I echo the above, I would not purchase a dog from there. They are not doing enough to prove their dogs worth, instead they are just breeding to sell pet puppies.

There are some very good breeders in Florida and Georgia. Try looking at the breeders list on the DPCA.org website for breeders in your state. As a note, most good breeders do not breed very often, and get a lot of email from people looking for puppies. Make a doggie resume for yourself to use in an email.

The suggestion to contact Doberman breed clubs in Florida is a good one also. I will say that breed club websites are not always monitored very well - some are.

Also, there are a lot more disreputable breeders than reputable ones - we all love our dogs no matter where we got them, but we should all want to only support the breeders who are truly in it for the right reasons. Full on-going health testing and proving the worth of their dogs are important things to look for in any breeder.
