I failed at confirmation in the late 1970's because I projected nerves onto our girl Tanya.
- so my show experience is rather limited...but I'll tell you what I still think

In the mid 2000's, I showed and easily titled our 2nd girl in OB...this time, I let fun totally prevail.
- this girl was a top show pick, as a puppy / but she didn't have the early confidence, for show ring
- championship breeder gave us the show puppy (on purpose), so former Amy could lead a companionship/normal family life & never be kenneled...she was needy of her people, which we loved
So showing in both venues, easier now to look back on self evaluation.
- what went wrong (due to lack of training & no mentoring)...and what we excelled at

Our 1st girl was happier outside the ring, not in it.
With 2nd girl I started building up her lack of confidence, starting at 10 weeks old...she took ribbons, in the OB ring.

Tanya's ears stood most erect...only with a liver treat, in front of her nose....(aka ring stress).
- the other thing to watch is the tail position...up is confidence...down is not
- neck should not be stretched out...stand Tall...baiting with high value treat (aka dried liver or cheese)

Standing on the colored plastic turtle backs, is clever.
- if you had a helper, I would tickle the bottom of his tail, to make it come up
^^ A dog whisper technique, that projects calmness & peacefulness...zero out the stress
- undoing stress points will allow Rocky to prance around the show ring, with tall upright tail & un-posted ears
- projecting "big-boy" confidence

PS - nice looking puppy...good job getting Rocky to stack that good, at 9 weeks young...Enjoy the journey !!

------------Kelly & (Amy - RIP @ 11.7 y/o)

Rocky is actually 19 mo. Old I didn't pick him for show but have started titles in Rally and obedience. Kylie is more confident than he was at that age. If I tickle her under tail she will start to hold it ip...Hopefully it keeps getting more natural and up like when she's running around . Thanks for the tips!
