NATIONALS!!!! Who's going??? What days???

Who all is going to nationals? What days are you going? What events are you going too? I think it would be fun to do a small 1 hour or so meetup so we can put faces to names!

I'll be there Wed. evening 10/12 through Sunday.

Besides watching the boys (mine is in 9-12 black) I also plan on attending these events:

DPCA temperament seminar with John Soares. I have worked with John before and look very much forward to working with him again!

Doug Matson's night walk, I think this would be good for Mav as we never walk at night. I met Doug in Topeka he was very nice. I think this is a nice stressor for a solid dog.

Do you want to do the judges seminar? You KNOW I do but was confused if non-judges could do this.

And the banquet which I WILL dress up for.

I won't make it this year due to vacation plans with my hubby. The dogs will be home with a dog sitter, but we will be in Europe celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Hopefully next year!

I think you told me that. Yeah, Ohio might be a bit far from me, too bad it's not closer to Cincy, that would be nice for me at least.

Yes, non-judges can do the judges education seminar. I did it a couple of years ago at the national in California. I wanted to see what the JEC teaches judges. My favorite part was when they brought in dogs to demonstrate what they were talking about and let the participants go over the dogs.

I'm not going this year. Illinois is a little far for me but I would have went if my dog Pompey and I would have qualified for the TT20 obedience. Alas, we didnít make. After going HIT at last years national out of Novice we now have to compete in Open and Iím having a hard time with the retrieve over the high. My fault, just bad training lol. Good luck and much fun to everybody attending.

Yes, I'm worried when I have to start incorporating jumps and dumbbells. It's hard to find a trainer for that too.

I'm so very excited to be going! I jumped on the chance when I realized it was close-ish. I hope to learn a lot, and maybe also to meet some folks from this forum or some good breeders if at all possible.

I'll get there very late Sunday 9th and leave sometime Tues. 11th. I had hoped to take the Exhibitor Education Seminar, but it sold out before I could sign up. Pretty bummed about that. So I guess I'll mainly be wandering around lost-like as I attempt to learn the ropes. This will be my first dog event ever. Sadly, I'll be alone on this trip, so if anyone wants to meet up for one of the meals or shows, please feel free to PM me!

I am planning to attend the Working Apptitude Evaluation with Ray Carlisle on Monday at 11:00am. First time seeing this test in person.

I also plan to be at the Temperament Seminar by John Soares on Wednesday morning 9:00-12:00am.

These are the main two as I'm very much interested in overall dog temperament and behavior. I've dabbled in schutzhund a bit too so this will be nice to hear John speak. I've seen a lot of doberman conformation judging throughout my years attending all breed shows. However, I'd be happy to try and swing by one of those events too if there is a good opportunity to meet more folks from the forum. Since I'm heading down Monday, I figure I might stay for the top 20 as well.

Also what dogs are you bringing? I'm bringing my camera gear and would be more then happy to get some videos as well. Any adult dogs that need playing, any puppies that need socialization or cuddling or anything of the sort... I'll DO MY BEST!!!! Been a long time since I've spent quality time with them breed.

In case someone sends me a private message or a post here and I don't see it in time, I'll be there with a camera bag and tripod, dogless and probably looking like I have not slept in days. Oh and I'll correct the record since many assume otherwise, I'm female. I'll try to wear my doberman rescue tank top but if its cold then I'll be in a zip up hoodie.

Don't worry, I'll probably be wandering around half awake and pretending I know why I woke up to drive down there, hah! Wow that is great you are taking a big plunge for your first dog show experience but just try to enjoy it and not get too overwhelmed.

Thanks, bleh60! Well, I doubt I'll get *too* overwhelmed since I didn't get into any seminars. I'll be wandering and learning though.

I'm here! Got here about an hour ago -- way later than intended. Please, folks, feel free to find me, as I am all alone. I'll be the chubby chick with dreadlocks and no dog.

Check the catalog for anyone with the Sirai kennel name. I think she's planning on at least one of her pups in Bred By as well as the Futurity. Maybe a Specials dog, as well?

Had a great time at nationals (outside of Gretchen getting out of the yard for a few hours and worrying sick over her). Learned soooo much! Met some great people! This will be my first and last nationals for a long time due to timing of it being the first of the month so I'm really glad I got to go. AND... drum roll please..... MAV PLACED 4TH IN HIS CLASS!!! Jana did an amazing job! Judge said if he had more weight on him he would have placed higher! So here I am now trying to fatten up both my dogs!!! He's a bit leggy but still handsome. Sorry for bad quality but this is a picture of a paper photo.

Aw..... Karen. So nice.

4th in the 9-12? In the Nationals? Awesome.

Mav is a very very handsome pup. Love his haunches. Gaining weight? Isn't that what Doberman pups do for a living?

So glad that you got G back quickly. Mac walked away a couple of days ago. He NEVER does that. I freaked out for about 2 minutes and then found him sitting at the front door, wondering why I had "locked him out".

Yes, 4th in 9-12mo. and the winner of his class went on to place reserve dog. I'm very proud. I could tell he thought he was some hot $hit too lol.

It's funny I see all of these dogs online who are overweight and I'm wondering how that happens when I'm TRYING to put weight on my dogs and can't! The officially get to eat ground chuck with every meal now in hopes that they will put on some weight over the next 3 weeks.
