Have you checked out the DPCC: Doberman Pinscher Club of Canada - HOME or GMDF: gmdf.ca

There isn't a weight limit per say but there is a height limit. It is the "breed standard" as set out in the CKC and AKC.

Hope that helps some, welcome to DT from Hamilton.

There is a limit on height but no DQ for going over it.

If you're looking to show a Euro style dog though... good luck

Not specific for Dobermans, but here's a great site about showing (and trialing) dogs in Canada:

Canuck Dogs

Show Schedules, Show Results, LOTS of great links, etc. etc.

Oh boy I totally disagree (sorry!) but after seeing what is being dragged around the ring, I will take a euro dog any day .... Now think back to the show you were at on Saturday. Which one of those dogs did you think was most deserving of the males? There were two that came to mind (neither of whom took the points) but one was euro. He took the points on Sunday actually.

Maybe the ONE dog in the ring that looks totally different from the rest is the closest to the breed standard.....

To the OP, why don't you post a pic of the dog you are thinking of showing, we could maybe help you. You'd definitely want a handler though.

The CKC standard has no requirement/limit specifically for weight, although it does specify ideal height - but there is no disqualification for going over/under the height limit. But as with everything else, any deviation to the standard will be faulted to the extent of the deviation.

I never said it wasn't possible. I just wished him luck as I believe that titling a Euro style dog in NA is potentially MORE of a challenge. Thats all.

I haven't found that at all...if you have a nice dog, it won't matter where it's from. I haven't had a problem putting titles on my guys and if you look at Cookie, well, she was pretty amazing and finished quickly beating top dogs and handlers and I only used a handler some of the time. So....guess it depends on what you have an eye for...
