Judges who put up Non-Professionals

The subject of owner handling or breeder handling comes up on this forum very often. But I have never seen a list anywhere of what judges
have awarded points to non-professionals. So I'm offering to compile
the list with YOUR input and post it here.

So if you are a non-professional handler (either an owner handler or a
breeder who handles their own dogs but considers themselves a non-pro)
and you have been awarded points in the DOBERMAN ring,
tell us what judges put you up. Even if
the judge has already been mentioned by someone else, list them again.

Here's my short list:

Michele Billings
John. H. Honig
Helene Nietsch
Paula Nykiel
Kurt Richter

Arley Hussin, Lester Mapes loves kids stick one on if you have one. Walkawitz, Anlsem brian Meyer are a few that come to the top of my head. Would love to hear about Paula Nykiel cause in my experience she is not going to put up anyone that can't help her get to the top. Belonged to a club she belonged too.

Paula gave me WB out of Open Black which singled my Kiana out.
I was up against Gwen and Diego.
It was back in 2000 and it was the first time I had showed to her.
I can't remember if she was Provisional then.

I have a lot of respect for Mrs. Lee Canalizo. She's a great judge (though does like a nicely presented dog). Her son (Michael Canalizo) was one of my favorite judges, but alas, now he's an AKC rep and no longer has judging assignments in the US.

I've never shown to Charlotte McGowan in dobermans, but she's a papillion breeder from New England and is often an owner-breeder handler and I see her ringside from time to time. To be honest though I have no idea how she'd know a good doberman from a bad one, but she's extremely pleasant and does seem to 'judge dogs.' I don't think she'd know a good Italian Greyhound if it bit her in the a$$ from my experience, but she's very pleasant and doesn't seem to be too political With the IGs, as long as you bring her something that's 'showy,' 'cute,' and has little or no breed type, you're generally ok... LOL

I agree! He gave Gemma and I our first AKC point.....plus gave us Best of Breed over the specials, and then we made the cut in Group with him!

glad to see Canadian judges on here, thanks for starting this thread. I have done well under Kim Leblanc and Mike Jackman (unfortunately Mike isn't judging at this time, he has recently started chemo- we are praying for him, nice man plus he has put points on 2 of my dogs). I really like showing to Jean Fournier, nice lady and I don't find that she goes handlers, but I've only shown to her once.

Great thread!!!
Off the top of my head Gerard Penta gave my hubby BOS at a dobe booster with our puppy Fergie, over specials...and the points. James Reynolds is another judge who seems to be very consistent; I'll second Mike Jackman although I personally haven't done much he appears to pick what he likes and isn't afraid to give it to the newby either ... Morley Thorton....as long as you follow every specific direction you will be okay and he's a very nice man who will tell you like it is :-) and Judi Elford.
This should be an excel spreadsheet so we can update it.....

after hearing Jean is a good juniors judge I had our member who looks after judges ask her to do a day of juniors at our show this summer and am happy to report the answer is yes! I'm thrilled, I like to have people who come with recommendations and I like having someone who doesn't know the kids. And I ring steward for juniors, like to learn from those with experience, in case one day I end up judging juniors.

I'm going to try and get the table done some time this week
and will try and cut and paste it in a posting.
Don't think I can do an attachement.....anybody know if that's possible?

Keep posting all you owner handlers. Hope we have some more
judges to add after this weekend.

I would think an attachment would work the same was as if you do a photo attachement.

I'm so glad you doing this. As I was reading the thread, I thought I should make a list for me, if you're doing it, I want to thank you.
