Excited about getting back in the ring this year :)

Well we took sometime off from showing Strike. Melrae's ShoMe the Designated Hitter
1. He was bit by the neighbors dog and we were concerned his ea would not stand again. But it does thank goodness.
2. We found out he is actually a Nick, Ch. Cambria's Out for Justice son not a Lance, Ch. Cambria's Xcalibar. Long story but regardless I love my Boy and I am thrilled with him the same.
So I am looking at shows to enter him in and hoping to get that championship this year. He has 7 point of which I put 4 on him.

So here is to a new year of showing.

I do owner handle now. I dabbled in the Doberman AKC ring with my dogs handling off and on but it made nervous for so long. Funny thing I can show and have shown other breeds in AKC and won. And I was not nervous one bit. Only the Doberman ring made me nervous LOL
One day I was like screw it! I have shown and finished in every other conformation venue in the U.S.outside of AKC. I can do it and then I did. Finished my red male by putting his last major on him and taken class placements with mine and friends dogs and now showing and putting points on Strike the goober. Now that I look back I laugh at myself.
I will show my dogs myself or let friends show them. I will not hire a pro unless I cant make it to a show or for some reason I need one for a certain show.

You know, I think that is the best way. I know a good handler can make an "okay" dog look great and all, but I have such admiration for breeders that owner-handle. It just adds to their level of dedication in my eyes.

I would LOVE to show my male. He's not show quality but he's got a really smooth gate and a nice back-end. He is a little straight in the chest (all this according to my breeder). I'd like to get my feet wet and do it totally for fun. I just don't even know where to begin and if I have the time to properly dedicate to him.

I really, really want to catch a show. I bet if I go, the bug will totally consume me and I may stop whining about wanting to show, and actually do it.

Congrats on the achievements and getting back in there! Didn't he sire your most recent litter? When did you find out he had a different sire?

You could always have fun with him in the UKC conformation ring. Heck they even have a altered class that you can show spay/neutered dogs in. UKC is very fun and like a big fun show. Plus they pass out pretty ribbons.

Good luck in the ring!
Well last year I had plans to breed breed my Ch. Cha Cha to my Ch. Stunner. But an oops happened while I was away and Strike bred her instead. That story is on this list someplace. Anyways, Cha is red Strike is black and we 'should" have had red and black puppies. Instead we had an all black BEAUTIFUL litter. Cant wait for some of those kids to hit the ring this year.

I got to talking to his breeder whom I TOTALLY ADORE about the babies when they were born and long story short Strike was DNA tested and ended up being a black 2 ( carries dilution) not a black 3 ( does not carry dilution).
With that info it was questioned who his sire was as it was said that Lance Ch. Cambria's Xcalibar ( who is was thought to be the sire of the litter Strike is from) did not carry dilution. But..........Nick Ch. Cambria's Out for Justice did.
So then DNA testing was started on Strike and his siblings. Thus far results on the tested dogs from the litter are they are all Nick kids. Not Lance.

Regardless Strike and his litter mates are STUNNING!! He has a finished owner handled sister, his other sister has a 5 point major and a few singles, a brother was also pointed and another sister is pointed. Not to shabby for 1 litter so far and they will be showing this year still. I see other champions from this litter is the future.

I love my goofy, happy, dorky, slap you with his paw every chance he gets doodle bug with all my heart. I don't care who is sire is (even though Nick is quite lovely )
Strike is still Strike in the end and I would not change him for all the tea in China.

LOL Stunner says he kinda thinks Strike is ok too. Even if he is an annoying little brother. I saw him cleaning Strike's ears last night. But Stunner would surely deny it if asked LOL
