It'll be at the Host, as far as I'm aware. There are other hotels up and down that highway if the Host fills up. Host is pretty pricey $$$

It's in my hometown! And one intersection down from where I'm currently working. Hope to see many of you there!! If they have a WAE I'm going to shoot for entering with Creed! And maybe some OB or rally stuff too

I'm not planning to go, unless I fly in for a few days last minute. I don't want to drive that far, and I wont fly my dogs.

It was awesome meeting you and Nox this year!

Will there be a break down of events posted somewhere? I attend my Papillon National nearly every year... but this would be my first Doberman National What sorts of things should I expect aside from the conformation? Seminars? Health clinics? Vendors? (!!)

Thanks guys!

All of the above. Its a big convention, and it never seems like there is enough time in the day to do it all!

After missing the last two nationals, I'm excited to have it very close to home next year! My issue has always been that I start my work year the same week as the national (I'm a first grade reading tutor).... so it is hard to get away. Don't know if I will show anyone next year or not.

Hypothetical question regarding entering Rally competition at the National. Thinking of bringing Baron out of retirement to work on his RAE title. We didn't continue with Rally because we concentrated on working on Open A. After he got his CDX, we took a long break because of selling our home, moving, our home remodel and life in general. But now with the prospect of the National being in our back yard (only 2 hours away), the thought of being able to compete there even if for only one time is exciting. So my questions are:

1. Can anyone enter Rally at the Nationals or do you have to be a member of the DPCA?

2. If anyone can enter, what web site do you go to enter? Shows around here usually go through Rau shows.

3. How soon and when does the show schedule come out?

4. Also, how many dogs usually enter Rally at the National?

I plan on starting to train now and most likely will take a class or two over the winter. Found a great training place fairly close by. Ordered the newer AKC rules book because I know new stations have been added. Also, plan to enter a few shows between now and the National just to get some ring time in. Got DH to sign on. He is so protective of Baron and I wasn't sure if he would go for it. And, of course, everything depends on Baron's health. He goes back to his cardiologist in February or March so we will see how that goes. Thanks in advance for the help.

Great questions! I am following, because I would like to enter Jessie in rally at Nationals, besides potentially in conformation.

Agility, obedience and rally are open to anyone with Dobermans. You don't have to be a DPCA member to compete. Entries are not huge, but the ribbons and prizes are great!

(I don't know if they will open the regionals up to all breed obedience or not, which they have done in the past couple of years to get bigger numbers of entries)

Infodog has entries listed annually, and I usually get a premium in the mail since I am a DPCA member. You can check the DPCA website regularly for updates and the updated schedule for the show is always posted there throughout the year. I'd be sure to check throughout the summer.

Usually the regional show has obedience/rally over the Sat and Sun of the first weekend and then National obedience/rally is the Tues following that. The obedience seminar and other seminars (such as agility, handling seminar, etc) on the Wednesday.

I've only attended a couple Nationals so look forward to this one being close.

DPCA National | Home

Sept 26 through Oct 3, 2015. I called host hotel last week to see about reservations and was told they have no availability. Also called several other hotels in the area and they were booked as well.

I ended up booking at the Travelodge Lancaster/Stasburg 717-397-6531 which is less than a mile away from the host site. Their pet fee was something like $25/night, but I convinced the manager (owner?) to be competitive with the other area motels. If you make reservations be sure to tell them you are attending the DPCA nationals and you will get the $10 pet fee.

Called Best Western yesterday where we were planning on staying because my husband stays at one in Bethlehem PA weekly for his job and he has a rewards card. It is very pricey but does allow dogs and had suites available. Just on a whim, I called the Host Hotel because I looked on line today and they had rooms available. I was able to book the 4 days I wanted and it was cheaper than the Best Western and we won't have to drive back and forth.

I've called a few places and either they're sold out or do not allow pets. Also, I've noticed some have increased their prices. Right now I have a reservation at La Quinta @ 151/weekday night and 160/weekend night =\ I am planning on staying for the whole thing so eh

Nox, it was $132.00 at the Host Hotel plus a one time fee of $25.00 for Baron and includes breakfast. Talked DH into adding another day. So we will be staying 4 days. Just so happy to be going!

Haven't been around the forum in forever! But we will be there for the entire week. The National is always so much fun and we're staying at the host hotel. I'm planning on entering Sabrina in Rally.

Host Hotel

Someone posted this on their FB Page today:

Charity event at Host Resort canceled | Local News | lancasteronline.com

We had been going for 4 days 3 nights but since I can't enter Baron in Rally, we are only staying 2 days 1 night. I had wanted to stay at the Host but had changed my reservation in August to the Best Western as DH had points from their rewards program to use up.

i really wonder whether they'll have to cancel the Nationals. they are NOT going to turn around every problem between now and then.

I am the sea witch. I am the tide you fear and the turning you can't deny. I am the sound of the waves running over your bones on the beach, little man, and I am not amused at finding you on my doorstep.

The person who posted this on FB didn't think could cancel it. But who knows!

The national has been held in other sketchy places - Kentucky comes to mind - and made it through despite the issues with the hotel. Hopefully all will be well with the kitchen problems by then as I'd hate to see our Friday night rescue & health banquet cancelled.... it brings in a lot of needed money for those good causes - AND is FUN!!

I am staying just 2 nights - Thursday & Friday, and coming for the day on Tuesday. I can't take the entire week off of work. I like to stay at the host hotel when I go to the national - even if it is kinda sketchy because that is where everything is!

I'm showing Jezebel in Beginner Obedience on Tuesday, and Harvard in Veterans on Thursday.
I won't stay over with Jezebel as she is very reactive around other dogs - it will be hard enough for one day trip with her. Harvard will be there with me later in the week - he just whines a lot .... annoying boy!
