Brutus Passed Yesterday

You may remember me speaking of Brutus last year.
Brutus is my dog Hossís best dog friend. Brutus visits us every Wednesday for play dates with Hoss.
Well he passed yesterday at about 4:30 PM.......
He almost died last year from DCM ......BUT .....his owner bought him more time.......just like the vet said ....about 1 year.
We all knew it would happen......didnít make it any easier at all.
The good thing is ...Brutus had pork roast yesterday morning.....had spent time with his owner...and when they went to take a nap yesterday....as Brutus hopped up on the bed ........nested into his typical spot....and passed against his owners legs.
Real sweet boy ......

Run Free Brut! Say hi to all of our best friends up there. Hoss and I love you so very much and will miss you this Wednesday.

Today is Dog Day.....for Brutus....please give your dogs something extra.....Brut would like that !

What a pair!
Brutus was 8 years old.......DCM strikes again !
They always stole each other’s food......the amounts were the same .......the food was the same.....??
Last night Hoss went and paid respects to his buddy......sniffed him......stepped away....then proceeded to go and eat Brutus’s food !!! Brut was so passive......he would let Hoss have everything....Brut would wait till Hoss was busy with the big heist .....then Brut would go and finish what Hoss was eating.....Smart Dog ! Never a snarl out of him.
Great dog friends!!!

Great dog friends!!!

Sorry for loss of Brutus so early. What a great pair of buddies him and Hoss were!

If you can, LaDi, put together one of your short videos as a tribute to Brutus and his friendship with Hoss, using pics or video that you have. Would make a great gift for Brutus's owner, as well.

Hoss paying his respects to Brutus, then scarfing down his food sounds so Dobermanesque... Reminds me of my DW's story growing up in a NYK Puerto Rican family. Whenever there was death of a friend or family in a low income situation, the deceased would be displayed in open casket in a host's home, around which everyone would be enjoying cake and Bustelo coffee.... (No reason to let good food go to waste...)

We let our dogs see and smell our previous little Chi-Terrier after she was put to sleep by vet. We had heard of incidents where a pack mate would be searching for months around house for an absent deceased buddy. Seeing and smelling the departed could help bring closure for dogs.
