For you Sparky
Sparky I never thought I would write about you like this, this way and I am really sorry. You were such a fun cat, a very handsome black and white cat who had personality plus! You accepted the Doberman, then the schnauzer, and hesitantly the shepherd. You liked to torment the dobe and she would mouth you with such zest your paws slapping her and her making all those funny sounds, had all of us laughing. You would allow them to lick you in the face with a look like ohhhhhh why me but you took all of it in stride. I miss you so much Sparky, I miss you getting under my feet in the hectic early mornings of getting ready for work. Coming in the bathroom determined to lay on the sink in my way, geez Sparky, you were so big your body wrapped around the sides with your front leg hanging over it. I remember you pawing at us for food and if we were busy and not paying one bit of attention to you, you would bite our leg til we had to notice you. I used to get so mad at you for jumping up on the kitchen counter to groom yourself, leaving burrs and stuff including hair .... what a mess. Oh and not to mention the birds you brought in dead and alive, wiping out the entire nest of bunnies and bringing those inside plus the mice I would find. None of you are talking about the dead mole I almost picked up in the dark hmm was that you too Sparky?
Well, who would ever thought the day I put you out would be your last night alive. I am so sorry. We went away over night and upon pulling into the front drive the next day, there you were in your yard a dirty mess with hair all over everywhere, what a horrible site. Neighbor thought the motorist must have laid you there. As the hours ticked the story unfolded of the entire weekend of the 3 pittbulls running reaking havoick in the neighborhood. Police were called, he took your picture apologized for our loss and promised something would be done. The sad part is, those dogs killed many many cats, kittens, and other small animals. They knocked a kid off his bike and turned on a man trying to save his cat. What angers me though, is their owner was cited all weekend for this. AND if that wasn't enough I found out that over the entire year she had complaints against her for not keeping her dogs confined. I had words with her too after I dealt with them for being in my yard at the fence upsetting our dogs. Her attitude and lack of concern was a reflection of the temperments her dogs had. Just plain nasty. BUT, now you are gone along with all those poor little kittens, mama cat and so many other strays that the nice man down the street took in. I guess in my town it depends on who you are, how much money you have if the police will do something about it. I am mad Sparky, sorry, and missing you with all my heart. It just isn't the same here without you. I really miss fighting with you, your tail twitching, eyes all big and you batting at me fighting with me yet purring the whole time. From what I understand, that lady has til today the 20th to get those dogs out of the city limits. Hmm, you didn't get another day to live, you were in your yard looked like you were trying to get to the fence maybe to jump over it to safety. I feel so bad Sparky, I can't imagine what you went through and I wish I had been home to save you. Everyone was crying, my grandson was so upset and mad at me for making you go out. All I can say is you are in a cute cat urn now and at peace. It is the best I can do, but none of us will forget you Sparky we all loved you so very very much. This wouldn't have happened if she were a responsible pet owner and if those on the PD would have followed up the citations she had gotten.
Rest in Peace "Sparky Man"
